Intersection of: Lock 9, Castleford Junction Lock to Lock 11, Ferrybridge Flood Lock on Aire & Calder Navigation Main Line and River levels are responding to recent rainfall The following flood locks/gates are closed and navigation restricted: Leeds Dock (Clarence Dock) Flood Gates Ferrybridge Flood Lock Castleford Flood Lock Broadreach Flood Lock Bank Dole Flood Lock Please check the Strong Stream Warning board and marker at each flood lock before entering the river section of navigation. This notice will be regularly updated as water level conditions change. Pump out As of 16:00 today 29.1.24 the CSF will be available again for use. The Pump out only is still out of order whilst we await repairs to the damaged cables. Don Doors Closed – mechanism failure The navigation remains closed while we await installation of the gearing mechanism. This notice will be updated on Friday the 2nd of February. Near Barton Island RESTRICTION (Monday 29 January 2024 until further notice) We have had several reports of recent groundings on the Upper Trent near Barton Island. We believe that this is being caused by silt deposits which have been left after the recent floods. Emergency dredging work is being planned in, but for the time being we are advising customers to proceed with caution. We will update this notice by the 12th February or as soon as we have further information. Bridge 108 Sideway Bridge The debris has been cleared and the canal is back open again. DS of Daylock Marina between Huntingdon and Houghton ADVICE (Sunday 28 January 2024 until rescinded) Please be aware of a tree which has fallen across the river downstream of Daylock Marina between Huntingdon and Houghton on the Great Ouse. Great Owl Running Event EVENT (10.30am-3.30pm Saturday 27 January 2024) A running event is taking place on the towpath. This will rung between Kirkstall and Apperley Bridge. Event marshals will be posted along the route. We ask that other towpath users be mindful of those taking part and obey any instructions from event staff. Greenberfield NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am Monday 29 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised our local team will be onsite at Lock 44, Top Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal from Monday 29 January to carry out repairs to the ground paddles and replace gate paddles on the top gates. To ensure a safe working environment, padlocks will be placed on Lock 44, Top Lock and Lock 42, Bottom Lock to prevent access on to the Greenberfield flight. Gaggs Bridge The tree has been cleared and the navigation is now open. Towpath from Bridge 82, University Avenue to Bridge 84, Somerset Road, Birmingham B15 2SG. TOWPATH CLOSURE (10am-2pm Friday 26 January 2024) Third party contractors need to come back to install the spray and chip on the repaired towpath opposite the new University Station. The towpath needs to be closed from 10.00 to 14.00 to complete these works. Signage and banksmen will be used to manage traffic and a diversion route plan will be in place. Navigation will remain open. Starts At: Lock 65 Alfred Street Our Engineers have now completed the design phase and established a method of repair for the subsidence that’s taken place at Lock 67, Tannersfield Middle on the Rochdale Canal. Our contractors are scheduled to commence on site Tuesday 6 February. We will provide a further update on progress by Friday 9 February. Sawley Lock – CSF The Customer Service Facility at Sawley remains closed due to the flood damaged caused to the facilities on-site, including the Elsan. The deep clean is now planned in for the 5th February and once completed, we will be able to organise the required repairs to the facility as a matter of urgency. Please note that our nearest operating facility is at Trent Lock. We will update this notice by the 6th February or as soon as we have further information. . Fosse Road Elsan The Elsan is now back open for use. Between Cossington lock 48 and Sileby lock 49 (Nearest village: Cossington) The fallen tree remains partly across the navigation between Cossington lock 48 and Sileby lock 49 on the River Soar. Our contractors have made some progress with clearing the tree and boaters can still get past. Unfortunately, the full clearance of this tree has been delayed due to the recent weather conditions. Boaters are asked to proceed with care and to be mindful of the hazard. We will update this notice by the 23rd February, or as soon as we have further information
