The elsan has now been cleared, and is now open.

We are sorry to report that the Elsan at West Stockwith is currently blocked. 

Contractors will be attending and we will update the notice on the outcome.

Water Point, south of Bridge 75, Ratcliffe Bridge

Update on 05/06/2023:

We are pleased to advise the water point just south of Bridge 75, Ratcliffe Bridge on the Lancaster Canal has now been repaired and is back in operation.

ADVICE (4.15pm Friday 2 June 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised the water point just south of Bridge 75, Ratcliffe Bridge on the Lancaster Canal is currently out of use due to damage to the pipework.

Our contractors have been informed and we await their attendance.

An update will be provided Monday 5 June.

Red Bull Services

Red Bull Visitor Mooring

Update on 07/06/2023:

We are pleased to advise the that the technical fault on the Pump out at Red Bull Services on the Trent & Mersey Canal, has been resolved and is back in operation.

ADVICE (4pm Friday 2 June 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised the Pump Out station at Red Bull Customer Service Facilities is currently out of use due to a technical fault. 

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their attendance Monday 5th June.

An update will be provided in Monday 5th June.

Update on 05/06/2023:

We are continuing to investigate the cause of the low water level in this stretch. 

We are unable to re-open the canal between locks 1E and 13E because there is no way of re-watering the pounds until we have sourced and fixed the problem.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Saturday 3 June 2023 until further notice)

Low water levels within the pound between Lock12 East and Lock 13 East mean that the canal in this section is now unnavigable. 

Investigations are underway to discover the cause of the low water levels here.

Lock 2, Bellfurrows Lock

Update on 06/06/2023:

Engineers have attended and the underwater obstruction has been removed.

There has been no damage to the lock floor and it is reopened for passage.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Saturday 3 June 2023 until further notice)

The navigation is closed at Bellfurrows lock due to a underwater obstruction in the centre channel just below the downstream gates.

Passage is not possible through the lock at this time, engineers will be attending on Monday to assess potential damage to the lock floor.

Elsan
Aldermaston Sanitary Station

Update on 05/06/2023:

Further to the notice below, we are pleased to advise that the elsan at Aldermaston Wharf is now fully operational.

ADVICE (12.30pm Thursday 1 June 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised that the elsan at Aldermaston Wharf is currently unavailable due to a faulty locking mechanism.

Contractors have been requested to attend site and we will advise as soon as these repairs have been actioned.

Pump out facility.
Bradford On Avon Wharf

Update on 02/06/2023:

Further to the notice below, please be advised that the pump out at Bradford on Avon has now been repaired and is fully operational.

ADVICE (4.30pm Wednesday 31 May 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised that the pump out at Bradford on Avon has failed and is currently inoperable.

Contractors have been informed and we will update this notice when the repair has been completed.

Only available for narrow beams. – Snapped balance beam
Lock 19, Hirst Lock

Update on 02/06/2023:

The local team have repaired the balance beam.

It is open to both wide beams and narrow boats.

RESTRICTION (9am Thursday 1 June 2023 until further notice)

Hirst Lock has a snapped balance beam.

It is closed to passage for wide beams, but open to narrow boats as it can only be operated utilising one head gate.

We will update this notice when further information is available 

Low Water Levels
Lock 8, Mayroyd

Update on 02/06/2023:

Water levels have  improved enough overnight  to open Lock 8 this morning.

The local team will check back later on in the day on the water levels

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Thursday 1 June 2023 until further notice)

Lock 8 is currently closed due to low water levels after an inspection this morning. We apologise for this and will update all once the water levels have been restored.

ADVICE (9am Thursday 1 June until 11.45pm Monday 5 June 2023)

Last phase of JSM works. 

JSM working on behalf of EU Networks to install new ducts on CRT land. Pontoon walkway diversions to be used.

Work includes main works, trial holes and any associated vegetation removal works at Powergate end.

Bridge 218, Moss Swing Bridge

Update on 01/06/2023:

The engineers for the Bridge have attended and the bridge is now operational. 

ADVICE (12.15pm Thursday 1 June 2023 until further notice)

We have been advised that Moss Swingbridge (not Canal & River Trust owned) is currently not working.

The company that own the bridge are sending engineers out to assess the issue and are looking to be in attendance in the next couple of hours.

Any skippers, that are in the area wishing to get through will have to wait until the engineers arrive.

We will update the notice when further information is received.

Lock 11, Salmons Lane Lock

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10.30amTuesday 30 May 2023 until further notice)

Update on 30/05/2023:

Please be advised that it has become necessary to close Salmons Lane Lock to enable repairs to be made.

Please be aware the bottom paddle gear at Salmons Lane Lock has come loose.

Navigation is still possible but may take slightly longer. Our team will be in attendance to handle remedial works.

Trees blocking the navigation between Boroughbridge SS and Milby Lock

Update on 01/06/2023:

The trees have all been removed by the contractors and the navigation is clear for passage.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Tuesday 30 May 2023 until further notice)

There are 4 – 5 large trees that have come down across the navigation.

We are hoping to have contractors our to remove the trees but we are aware that specialist equipment will be needed.

We will update the notice when the trees have been removed.
