Tree fallen across navigation The fallen tree has been removed. It is open for navigation. RESTRICTION (11.30am Tuesday 27 June 2023 until further notice) A tree has fallen covering 80% of the navigation. The local team have been notified and will be organising removal of the tree. We will update the notice when we have further information. Starts At: Bridge 109 – Upperton Road Bridge NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10am-4pm Tuesday 27 June 2023) There is a police investigation and dive taking place between Mill lane Bridge 110 and Upperton Bridge 109 on the Grand Union, Leicester Line on the 27th June from 10am until 4pm. Freemans Meadow Lock 41 will also be closed during this time. There will be ropes across the navigation, divers in the water and other activities in this area that will stop all traffic from moving during this time. Please follow any advice given on site. Marnham Fields footbridge replacement with short daytime stoppage on 27.06.2023 TOWPATH CLOSURE (2pm Monday 26 June until Sunday 2 July 2023) London Borough of Ealing are replacing their collapsed bridge over Marham Fields. Site set up from 26.06.2023. Towpath be shut for one week with short diversions and lifting goes ahead the day of 27th June. Boaters to wait no more than 30 minutes during lift. Offisde wall repair by divers at Versatile House, Bentinck Road, West Drayton ADVICE (Tuesday 27 June until Wednesday 28 June 2023) Divers repairing offside canal wall on behalf of Iconic Facilities Management LTD. Bridge 6, Scrubs Lane (A219) ADVICE (8pm Sunday 25 June 2023 until further notice) There is a police incident in the Scrubs Lane Bridge area. Police may be stopping boats from passing. We are awaiting further information from the Police if a stoppage may be required. Please follow local instructions. Bridge 14, Parkend Swing Bridge Futher to the notice below, please be advised that Parkend Swing Bridge (Bridge 14) has now been repaired and is fully operational. RESTRICTION (8pm Sunday 25 June 2023 until further notice) Please be advised, Parkend Swing Bridge is closed due to a mechanical failure. Our teams are working to carry out a repair but it is closed while we diagnose the fault and carry out the repair. Closed due to low water levels ADVICE (11.30am Monday 26 June until 9am Tuesday 27 June 2023) On our daily monitoring, it was found that the water levels are low this morning and has led to the decision to lock up Lock 8 and Lock 9 for today to allow the water levels to replenish. The pump will be helping with bringing the water levels up. Lock 8 and Lock 9 will be reopened tomorrow for normal opening hours All Sites ADVICE (Monday 26 June 2023 until further notice) With the recent onset of warmer weather our sites have seen an increase in public gatherings. However, we have also experienced a rise in vandalism and anti-social behaviour alongside this. Sensor issues Selby Swingbridge is fully operational. We are awaiting on contractors to attend to the Swingbridge. Should passage be needed, please contact the office within working office hours (Mon – Fri 08:30 – 5.00pm) and assistance will be sought. ADVICE (3pm Tuesday 16 May 2023 until further notice) Selby Swingbridge is experiencing issues with the sensor. Contractors will be out to the Swingbridge tomorrow morning to try and resolve the issue. We will update the notice when the bridge is operational again. Mooring restriction ADVICE (10am Monday 26 June until 8am Monday 10 July 2023) Please be advised that there is a lock restriction at Lock 69 on the Grand Union Canal. The lock is still accessible but due to works on the towpath some restrictions within the lock mooring area are in place and additional care will need to be taken. Between Middle Bridge and Bells Mill Bridge The tree has been cleared. Navigation open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10am Monday 26 June 2023 until further notice) A tree has fallen in between Middle Bridge and Bells Mill Bridge, blocking navigation. Our contractors were suppose to clear this at midday but unfortunately haven’t shown up. We have been informed they are on the way. We will post another update as soon as we receive it. Anchor Bridge to Anglesey bridge, Underwater obstruction Intersection of: Anchor Bridge to Anchor Bridge on Wyrley & Essington Canal and ADVICE (8am Monday 26 June until 10am Tuesday 27 June 2023) Please be aware of an underwater obstruction between Anchor Bridge and Anglesey Bridge on the Wyrley & Essington Canal. This is a dumper truck has been dumped into the canal. Third party contractors will be on site tomorrow (27/06/2023) between 8am and 10am to recover the truck. Please be follow advice from contactors. Downstream Landing Stage Offord Lock ADVICE (Saturday 24 June until Tuesday 27 June 2023) Please be advised that the Environment Agency has been made aware of a stricken vessel, facing a ‘Pan Pan’ scenario, that has broken down and is located on Offord Lock downstream landing stage, close to Buckden Marina on the River Great Ouse. We have been informed and anticipate that recovery of the vessel will take place on Tuesday 27th June. Bridge 25A, Ufton Swingbridge Please be advised that contractors are working on the repair of the bridge. Passage is available in working hours however there maybe delays. Full repair of the damaged barriers is expected to be completed tomorrow Tuesday the 27th at the end of the day. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9.45pm Saturday 24 June until 10pm Monday 26 June 2023) Please be advised that due to a failure of the road safety barriers, Bridge 25A, Ufton swing bridge is currently inoperable. Our mechanical and electrical engineers have this evening attended site but unfortunately have not been able to make a sufficient repair. Parts required to enable the repair will be available on Monday 26th June when the team will return.

The Environment Agency would appreciate your support with instances of anti-social behaviour and ask that the Police are contacted for this reason and such behaviour reported. The more calls they receive from the public
alerts them to the importance of the need of potential patrols or further measures.
However, should the site also be damaged we request that as well as contacting the Police, you call the Environment Agency also to report the damage for us to enable a repair to be carried out.

Navigation and transit through Offord Lock is still possible and the vessel has been moved to the downstream most limit of the landing stage so that a portion of the landing stage is still availiable to vessels whilst using the lock.
Please exercise caution in this area and if using Offord Lock. Due to the current warm weather the river is expected to be busier than normal and a wide variety of river users on the river in both powered and non powered craft.
