Castlemill Lock ADVICE (Tuesday 16 August 2022) Please be aware contractors will be working at Castlemill Lock on Tuesday Centenary Way Road Bridge – concrete slabs ADVICE (4pm Friday 12 August 2022 until further notice) We have been advised by Rotherham Council that there are concrete slabs that may be unstable on Centenary Way Road Bridge. The council are working on a strategy to secure the slabs and are keeping the Trust updated on works. We ask all skippers of all crafts to slow down and approach the area with caution Antisocial behaviour Moores Swing Bridge/Wykewell Lift Bridge – Staff non-attendance. ADVICE (1pm Friday 12 August 2022 until further notice) Due to ongoing anti-social behaviour and threats towards our staff we are asking our customers to plan their journey’s to avoid this area during these times: 12:00- 21:00 hours. Canal & River Trust staff will not be able to attend these sites during these times for emergencies. This notice will run until the end of August, these measures will be reviewed frequently during these restrictions. Apologies for any inconvenient this causes, our aiming is to keep our customers and staff safe. Hemingford Lock Enclosure Update on 16/08/2022: The navigation advisory notice issued on 12 August 2022 is now rescinded as repairs to the enclosure have been completed. ADVICE (Friday 12 August 2022 until rescinded) Please be aware temporary fencing has been erected in the enclosure at Broken sluice grate Lock 89, Cowley Lock Welding works required have now been completed ADVICE (10am Thursday 11 August 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that the grate over the sluice by the towpath above Cowley Lock has come loose and is causing a strong flow towards the sluice. Please take care when entering and exiting the lock. Approximately 100 metres west of Bridge 5, Berkeley Avenue ADVICE (3pm Thursday 11 August 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that a tree has fallen from a third party property, approximately 100 metres west of Bridge 5,Berkeley Avenue. Navigation is still possible but please proceed with caution. Operation of Narrow Street Bridge, Limehouse Basin and entering of Limehouse Ship Lock ADVICE (Wednesday 10 August until Monday 15 August 2022) Due to the expansion caused by the extreme weather conditions, Narrow Street Swing Bridge will be closed until Monday 15th August 2022. Deep draft and high master craft will be unable to enter Limehouse Lock, please consult and book in the normal manner and you will be advised if your craft can be accommodated. Bow Locks are available as an alternative for suitable craft, and for other Craft it may be possible to utilise West India Dock. Starts At: Ripon Canal Head – Visitor Moorings We have received sufficient water and we are reopening this section of canal. We will be closely monitoring the navigation for any changes. We are still closely monitoring the conditions of low water levels from Ripon Canal Head basin to Bellfurrows Lock. We will update the notice when we have sufficient water to reopen the section. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (5.30pm Wednesday 10 August 2022 until further notice) Due to low water levels and limited water resources, we are closing the navigation from Ripon Canal Head Basin to Bellfurrows Lock. We will be closely monitoring the water levels and will update the notice when the water levels have replenished. Carr Mill Reservoir ADVICE (until further notice) WARNING – Blue Green Algae HEALTH HAZARD at: Carr Mill Reservoir A suspected bloom of blue-green algae has been found in this water. Swallowing the water or algal scum can cause stomach upsets or more serious health effects. Contact with the water or with algal scum can cause skin or eye problems. It is a sensible precaution for you, your children and your animals to avoid contact with the scum and the water close to it. Please note the location of the suspected algal bloom may change as a result of wind and water movement. Holliday Street Customer Service Facility The Elsan is now back open for use. ADVICE (11.15am Wednesday 10 August 2022 until further notice) The Elsan only is currently out of order, due to a blockage. Please bear with us whilst contractors resolve this issue. Tree in Navigation The tree has been successfully removed, the navigation is now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am Tuesday 9 August 2022 until further notice) Please a advised there is a tree blocking the navigation, contractors are on site today. Once the tree is removed we will update the notice. Repairs have been carried out and the lock is now reopened NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Tuesday 9 August 2022 until further notice) Swinton lock is not operable due to a technical issue, we will update the notice as soon as it is repaired, Starts At: Bridge 41, Horbury Road TOWPATH CLOSURE (until Monday 8 August 2022) Police have closed the towpath between Bridge 41, Horbury Road and Bridge 28, Beeston while they deal with an incident which is ongoing. Police will inform Canal and River Trust when the towpath can be reopened and this noticed will be updated at that time.

16 August 2022, replacing the lock paddle as the rack has become damaged.
Boaters are requested to please proceed with caution when in this area and
take heed of any instructions or signage from the contractors on site. There
may also be a minor delay whilst the racks are swapped over but any such
delay will be kept to a minimum.
Hemingford Lock because of a trip hazard recently identified. Repairs will be
carried out as soon as possible at which point this notice will be rescinded.
The Lock remains open but boaters are requested to please be careful in this
area.
