You can view this notice and its map online here: Update on 07/04/2023: THIS IS A POLITE REMINDER THAT STRONG STREAM ADVICE ADVICE (18 March 2023) A POLITE REMINDER THAT STRONG STREAM ADVICE Caen Hill flight RESTRICTION (1pm Thursday 6 April 2023 until further notice) Please be advised that a navigation restriction will need to be introduced for the Caen Hill flight from Lock 29 (Devizes Lock) to Lock 44 (Sir Hugh Stockwell). This restriction will take effect from the 24th April 2023 for a 12-week period. The opening hours of the flight will be 10:00 to 16:00hrs daily with last entry at 13:00. This navigation restriction will run concurrently with the existing restriction on the Crofton and Wootton Rivers flights, where the opening hours are presently 09:30 to 15:30hrs daily. The reason for this navigation restriction is to preserve water supplies and help recovery of water levels whilst critical upgrade and maintenance works are carried out to the pumping infrastructure at Caen Hill Pumping Station. It is important for our boating customers to note that during the works there are likely to be some changes in water levels which we will be closely monitoring. Through careful water management and backup mitigation measures, we hope to avoid the requirement for further navigation restrictions or a temporary canal stoppage. Minerva Wharf, Wolverhampton, Old Main Line We are pleased to advise the final repairs have been made and the towpath is now open. Unfortunately contractors have experienced delays with repairing the towpath. We are now hoping to have the towpath open by tomorrow afternoon. (Tuesday 18th April) TOWPATH CLOSURE (until 5pm Monday 17 April 2023) We have agreed with our contractors that the towpath will need to remain closed next week to allow for repairs, as well as to make the wall re-building easier. We are now aiming to open the towpath by Monday 17th April. Thank you for your patience. The debris from the large factory fire opposite Minerva Wharf has now been cleared from the towpath and navigation, and it’s possible for boats to pass through this area. We’re now agreeing with the third party responsible to repair damange to the towpath, but until the potholes and gaps in the wall are fillled, the towpath will have to remain closed. We expect to be able to update you very soon, certainly by next Wednesday 4th April. Thank you for continuing to bear with us while the clean up is completed. Leeds sanitary station – CLOSED ADVICE (10.45am Friday 7 April 2023 until further notice) We are sorry to report that Leeds sanitary station has been taken out of service following vandalism overnight. ADVICE (Thursday 30 March 2023 until further notice) The water point at Lime Kiln, near bridge 15 on the Ashby Canal is out of order. Gloucester Docks Following the notice below we are pleased to announce that we are able to re-open visitor moorings in Gloucester Docks from 8am on 6th May 2023. There are still depth restrictions in place as we continue to dredge. A map of depths is available at Llanthony Bridge and Gloucester Lock, so please chat with our operatives to discuss a suitable place to moor. The dredging operation will continue in Gloucester Docks until early June. With this in mind you may be asked to move your vessel to accommodate these works. Please speak with a member of the team at either Llanthony Bridge or Gloucester Lock to see where the dredger will be working during your visit. ADVICE (until 5pm Sunday 14 May 2023) The depth of water in Gloucester Docks remains affected by the exceptional siltation in the summer last year. Recent dredging has improved depths on the approaches to Llanthony Bridge and other parts of the dock. Further dredging is scheduled to carried out between Monday 3rd April and Friday 14th May 2023. These works will initially focus on ensuring a channel across the dock to Gloucester Lock. Dredgings will be transported 5km down the canal to south of Rea Bridge. Please pass the dredger and loaded hoppers with due care and follow instructions of the dredging crew. The mooring suspension affecting the dock remains in place. We apologise for any inconvenience. East Channel, Upper Parting, River Severn ADVICE (until further notice) At the East Channel upper parting with the Maisemore (west) channel, we have reports of a submerged island of sediment on the left hand (east) side which extends to the middle of the river.
