The Trent & Mersey Canal has reopened near Anderton in Cheshire following temporary repairs to the landslip caused by storm Cristoph back in January 2021, writes Colin Wareing.

The slippage initially closed the canal to navigation and engineers from the Canal & River Trust. They have installed a temporary solution that allows canal traffic to pass the site between Bridge 200, Soot Hill and Bridge 201.

Skippers are asked to pass at a slow speed and traffic going towards Anderton will be given priority over traffic from the other direction.
