Tackling the Stigma Surrounding Men’s Mental Health

Due to it being November, which is a month that is dedicated to raising awareness around men’s mental health, Addiction Advocates have created an infographic which highlights the stigma that surrounds this subject and provides useful information to help tackle it.

As a leading UK based addiction and mental health treatment provider, they have been concerned about the rising figures seen during this past year in relation to men’s mental health.

The most common issues men are experiencing is depression, anxiety, PTSD and substance abuse disorders, affecting men the same as women.

A lot of these problems are exasperated by unnecessary stigma, therefore making it harder for some men to seek the help they need or to understand the issues they are dealing with.

For instance, 1 in 5 men will suffer from Generalized  Anxiety Disorder, however, only 36.9% of those suffering take medication for it or seek help. To see the full infographic, visit www.addictionadvocates.com.
