BDA Dragonboat League Event
Starts At: Princess Of Wales Bridge
Ends At: Tees Barrage Gate 1

EVENT (7.30am-6pm Sunday 5 May 2024)

A Dragonboat event organised by Tees Valley Dragons will be taking place on Sunday 5th May between Tees Barrage and Princess of Wales bridge.

The navigation will remain open but there may be slight delays. Skippers of all craft are advised to slowdown, reduce wash and follow any instructions given by the event organisers.

Evesham reach from Workman Bridge to Chadbury

EVENT (Saturday 4 May until Sunday 5 May 2024)


Rowing event on 4th and 5th May 2024 involving racing boats from various clubs . Marshalls will be sited throughout the course and safety boats will be placed on the course.

Please navigate with care during racing and take instruction from the marshalls and safety boats. 

ANT Waterside moorings will not be available during the event, Workman Gardens moorings un-affected.

Evesham Rowing Club and ANT thank other river users for their patience.

Kennet & Avon Canal

Lock 51, Wootton Rivers

EVENT (11am-12noon Saturday 4 May 2024)

Please be advised that a long distance running event has been organised by Marlborough Running Club on Saturday 4th May 2024.

The event will start and finish in Marlborough and use a section of towpath between London Road Bridge, 138 and Devizes Marina.

The navigation will remain open although there may be slight delays. 

Please proceed with care and follow the guidance of the stewards.

EVENT (Thursday 2 May until 10am Tuesday 7 May 2024)

A floating market, organised by the Roving Canal Traders Association, and planned from Saturday 4 to Monday 6 May on the Grand Union Canal. The market will take place between Gas Lock, 2 and Lower Kings Road Bridge, 140C. A Mooring Reservation will be in place throughout these dates.

Warmington Lock: 27 November 2023 to 30 May 2024
Wansford Lock: 5 February to 29 April 2024
Upper Barnwell Lock: 2 January to 26 April 2024
Lilford Lock: 23 November 2023 to 23 April 2024
Cotterstock Lock: Postponed

Please be aware of the updated closure dates for Winter Works to be carried out at the above locks on the River Nene. The above mentioned extensions to the existing lock closures are as a result of the ongoing river conditions, (Strong Stream), and further extensions may be necessary if conditions remain

Cotterstock Lock works remain postponed until further notice.

Please be aware that works to repair the damage to Irthlingborough Moorings is due to take place between 15 April and 10 June 2024. We would like to make you aware that this section of mooring,
(approximately 130 metres of timber section), is out of use until repairs have been carried out and completed.

River Thames

RESTRICTION (Monday 25 March until Monday 17 June 2024)

Henley Royal Regatta 2024 course construction: boaters travelling downstream should use left, Berkshire/Remenham side of the river within the regatta course. Boaters travelling upstream should use the right, Buckinghamshire/Fawley Court side of the river.

Fossdyke Canal

Bridge 4B, Pipe Bridge

RESTRICTION (Monday 19 February until Monday 24 June 2024)

Third party contractors, Alfred Bagnalls & Sons on behalf of Cadent, will be carrying out remedial works to the overhead Gas Pipe at Bridge 4B, Burton Meadows, West of Lincoln City on the Fossdyke canal. These works are taking place between 19th February and 24th June.

Scaffolding needs to be erected over the navigation. Works methodology and access requires the use of a mobile floating pontoon & craft for transporting materials.

Delays of up to 30 minutes can be expected for passing craft to allow contractors to move pontoon if restricting navigation. Passing craft to navigate the works location slowly, with caution and in single file.

The contactors will provide towpath banksman to manage the passage of towpath users whilst the scaffold is being erected.

Aire & Calder Navigation Main Line

Rowing Activity
Starts At: Lock 7, Lemonroyd Lock
Ends At: Lock 5, Woodlesford Lock

ADVICE (8am Thursday 15 February until 5pm Friday 14 February 2025)

Please be advised that there will be regular organised rowing activity between Lemonroyd Lock 7 and Woodlesford Lock 5, starting in mid-February 2024.

The activity is part of a 12-month pilot undertaken by The Gorse Academies Trust, which aims to encourage young people to participate in rowing activity.

Rowing boats will launch at a fixed pontoon opposite Lemonroyd marina and will row on the long straight section between Fleet Lane Bridge and Swillington Bridge, where they will be permitted to exceed the navigational speed limit.

All other boating activity may continue as usual but please take extra care when navigating this length.

Contractor installing Scaffold over Lee Navigation/Bow Creek to enable access for Cleaning and Painting to Gas Pipe Bridge Structure

Bridgwater & Taunton Canal

Bridge 41 Tone Bridge (North Town Bridge), Taunton

RESTRICTION (8am Monday 8 January until 6pm Wednesday 10 July 2024)

Please be advised that contractors will be working on behalf of Somerset County Council to carry out bridge refurbishment works for six months.

The river navigation will remain open with a minimum of five metres clear width left for navigation in the centre span.

The contractors will work from a floating pontoon and scaffold attached to the bridge superstructure.

One half of the river will be closed for three months and then the pontoon will be moved to the other side of the river for a further three months.

Please approach with caution and take care while negotiating through the work area and past the bridge.

River Ancholme

Hibaldstow Bridge

ADVICE (until October 2024)

Please be aware that there are planned works being carried out by contractors to encapsulate, shotblast and paint Hibaldstow Bridge on the River Ancholme.

These works will now be completed by October 2024 during which time navigation will be restricted to one side of the channel for river users. Please navigate with caution whilst in this area and heed any signage or instructions provided by contractors on site

Regent’s Canal
