Keadby Sanitary Station – Now open Contractors have attended site and completed works, the facilities are now open. ADVICE (2pm Wednesday 26 July 2023 until further notice) The customer service facilities are currently closed due to an issue with the drains, Contractors have been notified and shall be in attendance as soon as possible. Our contractors have cleared the tree and boaters can now proceed as normal. Our contractors are still to attend site to deal with the fallen tree is completely blocking the navigation approximately 100m southeast of Bridge 12, ‘Massey’s Bridge,’ on the Trent & Mersey Canal. Manchester Lock 79 Coal Pit Middle Starts At: Lock 81 Butler Street We are pleased to advise that the boat has now been recovered from Lock 73, and the temporary repair to Lock 79 is now complete. Please note, navigation through Lock 79 is possible with use of one working head paddle only until further works can be carried out. Navigation has now resumed between Lock 72 and Lock 81 on the Rochdale Canal. Please be advised navigation remains closed between Lock 72 and Lock 81 on the Rochdale Canal. Our local operations team have been onsite at Lock 79 today and have started the temporary repair to the paddle which became detached. They will be returning to site tomorrow to continue with the repair. Third party contractors will be onsite at Lock 73 tomorrow to attempt to recover the sunken boat from within the lock. A further update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday 8 August. Please be advised navigation remains closed at Lock 79 on the Rochdale Canal due to an issue with the head gate paddle. Following further investigations today, we have found that the paddle has become detached and is within the lock chamber. Our team will aim to retrieve this over the weekend period and attempt a temporary repair on Monday. Please note, padlocks have been placed on Lock 81 and Lock 72 to prevent entry to the flight, as there is also sunken boat at Lock 73 in which our teams are assisting with its recovery. There is a fault with the operational pedestal at Holme Lock resulting in a temporary closure. Our engineers will be on site tomorrow to investigate further but initial findings indicate that it may be closed for the next two days.
