ADVICE (8am Thursday 11 January until 5pm Sunday 31 March 2024)

Please be advised that third-party contractors will be onsite between bridge 164 and bridge 166 on the Trent and Mersey Canal. 

The third-party contractors are working on behalf of  Cheshire East Council.  They will be removing vegetation,  carrying out ground clearance and demolition on both sides of the canal in preparation for construction of a new bridge.   

Whilst the navigation and towpath will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to stop if necessary. 

Please take note of the signage and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors onsite.

ADVICE (Thursday 11 January 2024 until rescinded)

Please be aware of a tree which has fallen across the grass bank 48 hour mooring at Barford Old Mill which is currently preventing access to the mooring.
We will look to have this tree removed as soon as it is safe and practical to do so.

Please be advised the navigation remains restricted between Bridge 131 and Bridge 133 on the Shropshire Union Canal due to a windblown tree.

Due to unforeseen circumstances there has been a delay in our contractors attending site, we now anticipate their attendance Monday 15 January.

An update will be provided Monday 15 January.

Hayhurst Swing Bridge

Update on 11/01/2024:

We are pleased to advise the electrical fault has now been resolved at Hayhurst Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation and navigation has resumed to all vessels.

For boats with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m wishing to navigate through this bridge, please call the North West Customer Support team on 0303 040 4040 to arrange an appointment.

Appointments can be made between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday and we politely request at least 24 hours’ notice, further information can be found here.

Update on 10/01/2024:

Water levels have started to come down and the River Soar is now out of flood. Boaters can proceed as normal, but will be unable to travel between Kings Lock and County Road Bridge 30 until further notice. This is due to known flood damage to Kings Lock and the narrowboat which is currently stuck across County Road Bridge 30.
