Bridge 36, Spencers Swing Bridge We are pleased to advise the repair to Bridge 36, Spencer’s Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been successful and navigation has resumed. Please be advised our contactors will be back onsite tomorrow morning to continue repair works to Bridge 36, Spencer’s Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. To maintain passage, our local operations team will be onsite at 12pm daily to manually operate the bridge for waiting boats. A further update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 15 June. Please be advised our contractors have attended site and have now established a method of repair to for the mechanical failure at Bridge 36, Spencer’s Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. A replacement part has been ordered and we anticipate the repair works will start Tuesday 14 June and an update will be provided Tuesday 14 June. RESTRICTION (9am Monday 6 June 2022 until further notice) Please be advised, navigation is restricted at Bridge 36, Spencer’s Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a mechanical failure affecting safe operation of the bridge. To maintain passage, our local operations team will be onsite at 12pm daily to manually operate the bridge for waiting boats. Our Mechanical & Electrical team are working with our contractors to source a repair and an update will be provided by Friday 10 June. Lock 10, Stoke Lock The PLC fault on the power pack has been fixed and the Lock is now operating as normal again. RESTRICTION (Monday 6 June 2022 until further notice) The PLC on the power packs has failed, which means Stoke Lock cannot currently be operated by our customers. The lock will be manned each day from 9am until 3:30pm, and boats will be penned through. Outside of these hours, the lock will not be operational. Our maintenance team will hopefully be on site tomorrow, to fix this particular issue and we will update the website accordingly. Boaters may experience slight delays while our maintenance team are on site, while they carry out the required works. Please follow any instructions given on site. Shopping trolleys present in navigation Bridge 202A, Brittania Footbridge ADVICE (4.15pm Tuesday 31 May 2022 until further notice) Two shopping trolleys have been dumped into the canal at Bridge 202a, Brittania Footbridge with the wheels just above the water line. It is located on the south side of the footbridge. It has been reported to be removed, but in the meantime until it is removed, we ask boats to slow down, approach the area with caution and to be vigilant as to the location of the trollies are in the area. Dundas Pump Out & Elsan Further to the notice below, please be advised that the pump out and elsan at Dundas are still out of order due to an ongoing fault. Contractors are aware and are working to facilitate a repair as soon as possible. ADVICE (2.30pm Monday 30 May 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that both the pump out and the Elsan at Dundas are currently out of order. Contractors are aware and are working to facilitate a repair as soon as possible. Dobson Lock pumpout not working Contractors have been out to site and the pumpout has been trepaired and is working again. Contractors will be out to site tomorrow morning. We will update the notice when the pumpout has been repaired and is working again ADVICE (3pm Monday 30 May 2022 until further notice) The pumpout is currently not working and we have notified the contractors to attend to site. Elsan, Tardebigge Wharf Visitor Mooring This Elsan is now working again. ADVICE (8am Monday 30 May 2022 until further notice) The Elsan is out of order at present, please bear with us whilst we get our contractors to fix the issue. The toilets and showers are not affected. Blackburn Flight Please be advised navigation has resumed between Lock 52, Top Lock and Lock 57, Bottom Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Monday 30 May 2022 until further notice) Please be advised navigation is closed between Lock 52, Top Lock and Lock 57, Bottom Lock, Blackburn Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a third-party building fire. The fire brigade is on site, and we are awaiting further instruction from them in relation to the booms they have placed in the canal. An update will be provided later this afternoon. Lock 6 Higher Lock We are pleased to advise Lock 6 (higher Maunsel) has been repaired today as is now back in operation. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8pm Saturday 28 May 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that due to structural damage to the upper gate mitre post, we have closed lock 6 (Higher Lock). Our engineering team are aware and will be on site on Tuesday 31st May to assess and plan for repair. Updates will follow once a safe and suitable method of repair has been designed. Lock 25, Cape Top Lock This lock is now undergoing a stoppage for permanent repair. ADVICE (1.30pm Friday 27 May 2022 until further notice) Please take care when proceeding through Lock 25 due to a temporary repair on the bottom gate that is being monitored for stability. Hayhurst Swing Bridge We are pleased to advise the operating fault has now been resolved at Hayhurst Swing Bridge, on the Weaver Navigation and navigation has resumed for larger vessels with an air draught of 14ft 6ins / 4.42m or greater. Please be advised navigation remains closed to larger vessels with an air draught of 14ft 6ins / 4.42m or greater at Hayhurst Swing Bridge, Northwich on the Weaver Navigation due to an operating fault preventing the bridge from being swung. Our teams are planning to carry out modifications to the bridge abutment on the westside, We have planned for a series of night-time road closures commencing from Thursday 27th October for a period of 3-nights starting at 8:00pm to 5:00am, for our contractors to carry out these works and further investigations to take place during these closures. The road will be reopened to traffic each day outside of these hours. A further update will be provided on Tuesday, 1st November. Blackburn Locks We are pleased to advise the repairs to the tailgate at Lock 54, Blackburn Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal have been completed and navigation to all crafts has resumed. RESTRICTION (12noon Wednesday 25 May 2022 until further notice) Please be advised navigation is restricted to narrowboat access only at Lock 54, Blackburn Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to an issue with the tailgate. Our local engineers have been informed and working on a method of repair. An update will be provided tomorrow, Thursday 26 May. Submerged tree upstream of Bridge 2 The submerged tree will be removed while we close the navigation for one day (Wednesday 25th May) to undertake these works by contractors using heavy duty equipment. We have issued a navigation closure notice on (22388) to advise on the day closure needed to carry out these works from the winding hole just below the tree to next winding hole upstream from the tree. To enable boaters to be able to turn around if needed NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am-5pm Wednesday 25 May 2022) Works are to be carried out to remove the submerged tree upstream of Bridge 2, Sowerby Long Bridge which will result in a navigation closure due to the equipment being used. We anticipate these works only to last a day. You can view this notice and its map online Starts At: Lock 75, Cassiobury Park Please be advised that the required repair works have now been carried out to lock 75, and the navigation has now been re-opened to all crafts. Following an engineering assessment of lock 75 navigation for narrow beam boats is now available. Entry into the lock from above will be through a single top gate on the offside. The top Gate on the towpath side will be secured in the closed position. Navigation for widebeam boats is not available at this time. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7.45pm Monday 23 May 2022 until further notice) Navigation closed until further notice. Further updates to follow tomorrow following an engineering inspection of lock 75 Access Restrictions ADVICE (1pm Tuesday 24 May until 5pm Friday 1 July 2022) Please be advised that we are carrying out some ground investigation works around Wilstone Reservoir.
