Hanwell Flight closed for repairs NAVIGATION CLOSURE (until 3pm Wednesday 6 July 2022) Please be aware the Hanwell Flight due to repairs on the locks & paddles. Construction works supporting flood alleviation scheme at Hebden Bridge near Hebble End Bridge Due to legal issues the start date has been delayed and is now starting on the 18th July. TOWPATH CLOSURE (until 6pm Tuesday 18 July 2023) We are carrying out construction works in connection with Hebden Bridge Flood Alleviation Scheme. There will be a diversion in place. The diversion route has been agreed with disability organisations, the highway authority, and cycling organisations. Boaters moored between the exit at Stubbing Holme Road and Hebble End Bridge will have access via a locked gate across the towpath. This gate will have a Yale BWB standard Padlock which can be operated by a boater’s key. The towpath will be able to be used between Hebble End bridge 18 and Fountain Street, however, exit/entry to the canal towpath at Hebble End bridge will be at the discretion of towpath users and not DDA compliant. Lock 10 Staff have been able to close the damaged paddle and while it has not been possible to repair the paddle the lock is now open and operational using the other paddle which is still fully operational. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11am Sunday 3 July until 4pm Monday 4 July 2022) The upstream stream towpath side sluice paddle is stuck in the open position. Staff have attended site and tried to rectify the fault without success. The lock is not operational until the fault is rectified. The team will be on site Monday 4th July to further investigate the issue and undertake repairs. This notice will be updated when there is new information to share. Lock 8, Mayroyd ADVICE (11am Sunday 3 July 2022 until further notice) The winding gear wrack on upstream towpath side gate has failed. The lock is still operation using the other single upstream gate paddle but it may take time to fill the lock. Atherstone Elsan The Elsan has been fixed. ADVICE (11am Friday 1 July 2022 until further notice) The Elsan at Atherstone has been blocked. Contractors have been contacted so please bear with us and we’ll open it as soon as we can. Bridge 141D, Hodge Bank We are pleased to advise the tree obstructing the towpath and navigation has been removed and the canal is now open at Bridge 141D, Hodge Bank on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2.30pm Wednesday 29 June 2022 until further notice) Please be advised the towpath and navigation are closed at Bridge 141D, Hodge Bank on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a fallen tree. Contractors have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site this week to remove the obstruction. An update will be provided by Friday, 1 July. Low water on Kiveton Park section We advise skippers and towpath users that there maybe hoses on the towpaths whilst the Fire Services are pumping the water out and to be careful when walking on this section ADVICE (10.15am Thursday 30 June 2022 until further notice) Low water levels may be experienced on the section of the Chesterfield at Kiveton Park, due to Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service needing to extract water from the Canal. Please ensure ropes are slackened. We will update the notice when the Yorkshire Fire Service is no longer using the canal Ocker Hill Branch Moorings ADVICE (7am Wednesday 29 June until 5pm Friday 8 July 2022) Cadent Gas will be undertaking follow on works to an emergency gas leak repair. Please take extra care when passing through the work area. low water RESTRICTION (1pm Monday 27 June 2022 until further notice) We are advising that any craft travelling downstream to Keadby Lock break the journey up and travel direct from West Stockwith Lock. This is due to low levels of fresh water in the Trent and a build up of silt in the mouth of the lock, causing issues with craft travelling from Torksey. Please seek advice from Keadby Lock Keeper to assist with planning your journey around the current tides and river levels to suit your style of craft. Further updates to follow on dredging of the lock mouth and improvement of water levels. Blisworth Tunnel ADVICE (7.30-9.30am Friday 24 June 2022) Please note we have 2 widebeam transits taking place through Blisworth tunnel on Friday 24th June at 8am. This will cause delays for any narrowboats travelling. If you are planning to use the tunnel, please be through before 8am or aim to arrive after 9:30am. Sprotbrough lock – fault occurred The fault has been repaired by our engineers therefore the navigation is now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3.30pm Thursday 23 June 2022 until further notice) The navigation is closed due to a fault that has occurred with the lock. Engineers are due on site. An update will be published as soon as we have information. Vazon Swing Bridge – now open Network Rail have confirmed the Bridge is now operational therefore the navigation is now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Wednesday 22 June 2022 until further notice) We have been informed by Network Rail that Vazon Swing Bridge is unable to operate due to the heat, therefore the navigation is closed. This will be reviewed Friday and an update will be published. Lock 12, Beeston Stone Lock Please be advised we have now been provided with the necessary equipment to carry out paddle repair works, which have been scheduled for Friday 22nd July from 8am. An update will be provided on the afternoon of Friday 22nd July Please be advised there is currently a delay with the contractors supplying the equipment for the works to commence. Therefore, an update will be provided on 25th July Please be advised that the team are currently waiting for equipment from the contractors. ADVICE (10am Wednesday 22 June 2022 until further notice) Please be advised, our local team have been on site at lock 12, Beeston Stone Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal. The towside paddle has developed an intermittent fault and closure of the paddle is necessary to prevent further damage. Whilst navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to wait if necessary. Navigation Yard Swing Bridge (Footbr) Our teams are looking in to ways to enable safe operation of Navigation Yard Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation whilst we plan for a more permanent repair. Whilst our teams continue their investigations this bridge cannot be swung for larger vessels. A further update will be provided by Wednesday 29 June. Please be advised Navigation Yard Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation remains locked off to use due to an issue affecting safe operation.
