Please note, without regular rainfall, with very limited water resources in our reservoirs we may have to close the section at short notice. Due to the amount of water taken from the feed to recover the summit pound we will have to keep this stretch of the navigation closed. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am Thursday 4 August 2022 until further notice) Due to vandalism overnight the navigation is closed between these points to allow us to assess the damage, caused by these individuals. Contractors are being mobilised to clear tree Between Dunchurch Pools Marina and Braunston – Wide beam passage ADVICE (6-9pm Monday 1 August 2022) There is a planned wide-beam boat journey on the North Oxford Canal from Dunchurch Pools Marina to Braunston on 1st August between 6pm to 9pm. We kindly remind boating customers to be aware of a wide-beam boat and take extra care whilst navigating through this section of the canal. Bridge 20, Outwood Swingbridge We are pleased to inform you that Outwood Swingbridge is now fully operational and does not require significant force to operate it now. There are further works to be completed over the coming months, including the installation of some simple stops to prevent the bridge rotating too far when operating it (to open or close position). Please take particular care to move the bridge slowly if operating the bridge before these are installed to avoid damage to people or to the bridge. Further to the notice below, we are pleased to confirm that work has started at Outwood Swingbridge and progress has been good so far. Due to the delayed start as contractors waited for materials we now expect the works to be completed next week, with the bridge operational by 4pm on 26th Aug. Further to the notice below, please be advised that due to a delay in the delivery of some materials required to repair Outwood Swingbridge our contractors have been unable to start work on this bridge as planned. We will continue to monitor progress and update this notice when we have further information. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.30pm Thursday 28 July 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that the contractor attended site yesterday and carried out some works, however, the decision has been made to close the bridge until further works can be completed. Our contractor has ordered the parts which are required and is scheduled to return on 8th August. The works will take approximately five days to complete and we hope the bridge will be restored to working order and re-opened at the end of the day on Friday 12th August. Hemingford Lock ADVICE (Thursday 28 July 2022 until rescinded) Further to our navigation advisory notice issued 26 March, we continue to Goole Railway Bridge Closure – Network Rail Industrial Action NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11.45pm Tuesday 26 July until 7am Thursday 28 July 2022) Due to Network Rail Industrial Action no staff are available to operate the bridge or give advice on headroom and therefore no boats requiring the bridge to swing or requiring headroom advice will be able to pass through for the duration of this closure. Fallen tree between Booths Swingbridge and Leaches Bridge – towpath and part of canal The tree has been removed from the navigation and is clear for narrowboats and widebeams to pass. The section on the towpath area, has been moved to the verge. RESTRICTION (1pm Wednesday 27 July 2022 until further notice) There is a fallen tree that has come down between Leache’s Swing bridge and Booths Swing Bridge, partially covering the canal and the towpath. We advise skippers of all crafts to slow down and approach the area with caution. We will update the notice when the tree has been removed. Sneyd Customer Service Facility The facility is now open again with water having been restored. ADVICE (12.45pm Wednesday 27 July 2022 until further notice) The whole facility is currently closed ( Toilet & Elsan), due to no water on site. Once the issue has been resolved we will reopen the facility, please bear with us.
