Please be advised that the navigation is closed at Lock 50 on the Grand Union due to a fallen tree. Contractors will remove and updates to follow

Goole Railway Swing Bridge

RESTRICTION (until 6pm Friday 27 October 2023)

There will be a refurbishment of the swing bridge and directional drilling work taking place.

Could skippers of all crafts, please slow down and approach the area with caution.

There will be no impact on boat movements and a swing will still be available.

Boat lift with mobile crane from Grand Union Canal (Paddington Arm) to Northfields development site

ADVICE (8am-5pm Saturday 6 August 2022)

Please be advised that Trident Lifting Solutions Limited will be undertaking a boat lift with onsite mobile crane for use as a structure on the Northfields Development on behalf of St. George.

There will be no obstruction of the navigation

Please be aware the weed boat work on the River Nene is being
extended over the next few weeks.

This notice will be rescinded once the works have been completed.

Update on 01/02/2023:

Boundary Lock to Norwood Tunnel will be reopened for navigation at 9am, Monday 6th February.

Please note, without regular rainfall, with very limited water resources in our reservoirs we may have to close the section at short notice.

Due to the amount of water taken from the feed to recover the summit pound we will have to keep this stretch of the navigation closed.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am Thursday 4 August 2022 until further notice)

Due to vandalism overnight the navigation is closed between these points to allow us to assess the damage,  caused by these individuals.

Several sections of the canal have been drained  and will take a number of days to recover before the navigation can be re opened.

Apologies for the inconvenience this closure.

ADVICE (6-9pm Monday 1 August 2022)

There is a planned wide-beam boat journey on the North Oxford Canal from Dunchurch Pools Marina to  Braunston on 1st August between 6pm to 9pm.

We kindly remind boating customers to be aware of a wide-beam boat and take extra care whilst navigating through this section of the canal.

Bridge 20, Outwood Swingbridge

Update on 26/08/2022:

We are pleased to inform you that Outwood Swingbridge is now fully operational and does not require significant force to operate it now.

There are further works to be completed over the coming months, including the installation of some simple stops to prevent the bridge rotating too far when operating it (to open or close position).

Please take particular care to move the bridge slowly if operating the bridge before these are installed to avoid damage to people or to the bridge.

Update on 19/08/2022:

Further to the notice below, we are pleased to confirm that work has started at Outwood Swingbridge and progress has been good so far.

Due to the delayed start as contractors waited for materials we now expect the works to be completed next week, with the bridge operational by 4pm on 26^th Aug.

Update on 12/08/2022:

Further to the notice below, please be advised that due to a delay in the delivery of some materials required to repair Outwood Swingbridge our contractors have been unable to start work on this bridge as planned. We will continue to monitor progress and update this notice when we have further information.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.30pm Thursday 28 July 2022 until further notice)

Please be advised that the contractor attended site yesterday and carried out some works, however, the decision has been made to close the bridge until further works can be completed.

Our contractor has ordered the parts which are required and is scheduled to return on 8^th August.

The works will take approximately five days to complete and we hope the bridge will be restored to working order and re-opened at the end of the day on Friday 12^th August.

Hemingford Lock

ADVICE (Thursday 28 July 2022 until rescinded)

Further to our navigation advisory notice issued 26 March, we continue to
experience intermittent issues with the timer on the lock gate.
Boaters if experiencing difficulties, please keep your finger fully depressed
on the button until the gate is fully open even through the delay period.
If you require further assistance, please contact the incident hotline number
on 0800 807060 and ask for the duty officer for the Great Ouse Waterways
team.

Goole Railway Bridge Closure – Network Rail Industrial Action

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11.45pm Tuesday 26 July until 7am Thursday 28 July 2022)

Due to Network Rail Industrial Action no staff are available to operate the bridge or give advice on headroom and therefore no boats requiring the bridge to swing or requiring headroom advice will be able to pass through for the duration of this closure.

Update on 28/07/2022:

The tree has been removed from the navigation and is clear for narrowboats and widebeams to pass. The section on the towpath area, has been moved to the verge.

RESTRICTION (1pm Wednesday 27 July 2022 until further notice)

There is a fallen tree that has come down between Leache’s Swing bridge and Booths Swing Bridge, partially covering the canal and the towpath.

We advise skippers of all crafts to slow down and approach the area with caution.

We will update the notice when the tree has been removed.

Sneyd Customer Service Facility

Update on 29/07/2022:

The facility is now open again with water having been restored.

ADVICE (12.45pm Wednesday 27 July 2022 until further notice)

The whole facility is currently closed ( Toilet & Elsan), due to no water on site.
