Update on 15/03/2023:

Contractors have attended and resolved issue – Navigation is now open. 

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Tuesday 14 March 2023 until further notice)

Navigation is not possible at this time through Godnow swing bridge due to a failure.

Engineers are attending site tomorrow to assess and undertake repairs.

This notice will be updated on completion of the repairs.    

North Stratford Canal

A tree has fallen near Bridge 24 on the North Stratford Canal, partially blocking navigation.

Please be advised the Red Bull Customer Services on the Trent & Mersey Canal are closed due to an on-going leak.

Contractors have been informed and an update will be provided by Tuesday 21 March. 

Please note the waterpoint is not affected. 

Tame Valley Canal

Contractors on behalf of Cadent Gas will be carrying out maintenance to cathodic protection points sited at three locations at rear of towpath. The towpath will remain open with users being safely managed through work areas.

Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal

ADVICE (5.30pm Monday 13 March 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised a number of trees have fallen along the whole length of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal as a result of strong winds.

Our contractors have been informed and will work to remove them as quickly as possible.

We are currently aware of trees blocking navigation at the following locations:

Between bridge 72 and 73

Gilwern, between bridge 104 and 105

Llangynidr, between bridge 125 and 126

Talybont, 3 fallen between bridge 142 and 145

We expect more to be reported over the coming days and will arrange for them to be removed as quickly as possible.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (until 5pm Thursday 13 July 2023)

Update on 10/03/2023:

We would like to update our customers regarding ongoing works at Bridge 37, Hazelhurst.

There have been several challenges which have resulted in the requirement to extend this towpath closure by 2 weeks, taking the end date to Thursday 13th July.

We have also had to extend the navigation closure until Thursday 6th April. After this, a navigation restriction will be in place. Further information for this can be found here:

A tree has fallen past Bonehill Bridge, approximately 300m North of Bridge 77 on the Coventry Canal. It is partially blocking navigation.

We have asked our contractors to attend and will post updates as soon as we receive them.

Update on 14/03/2023:

Thanks to the efforts of our local team this morning, we are now pleased to advise that this obstruction has now been cleared.

There are now no restrictions on the towpath and boaters can proceed on the navigation as normal.

RESTRICTION (2pm Monday 13 March 2023 until further notice)

Reports have come in of a fallen tree near to Bridge 36 (Hook’s Bridge) on the Ashby Canal.

The obstruction is on the offside and is only partially blocking the navigation, however, we ask boaters to be mindful of this and proceed with caution.

Our local team will be in the area tomorrow to attempt to clear this.

Update on 14/03/2023:

Thanks to the efforts of our local team this morning, we are now pleased to advise that this obstruction has now been cleared.

There are now no restrictions on the towpath in this location.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (2pm Monday 13 March 2023 until further notice)

We have been alerted to a fallen tree blocking the towpath near to Shenton Aqueduct and just north of Elm’s farm on the Ashby Canal..

We ask that members of the public please avoid this section until the obstruction is cleared.

Our local team will be in the area tomorrow to attend to this, and our website  will be updated as soon as more information is received.
