Leeds Sanitary Station

Update on 31/03/2023:

Contractors have successfully carried out the required repairs and the Sanitary station is now open for use.

ADVICE (2pm Tuesday 14 March 2023 until further notice)

The Elsan at Leeds Sanitary Station is currently blocked.

Contractors will be attending and we will update the notice on the outcome.

Bedford Lock to Roxton

ADVICE (until rescinded)

Updated on 31/03/2023:

Tree maintenance works will be taking place at various locations along the
river during the timeframe shown.
Works will be carried out via boat and pontoon, but should not impact on
navigation. Please take care if navigating in areas where work is taking place
and adhere to any signage or instructions given by the contractors on site.
Due to the current river and weather conditions it is necessary to extend
these works for the forseeable future.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (9.30am Saturday 1 April until Friday 30 June 2023)

Please be advised that the towpath between lock 60 and lock 61 will be closed, due to ongoing major construction works at the Crofton Pumping Station.

Boaters will be able to access on /off boats from the towpath side upstream of lock 61 as normal. However, access on /off boats will only be possible downstream of lock 60 via a floating pontoon.

Please follow local signed walking routes on both sides of the lock chamber at lock 60 and respect the site boundaries for your own safety.

The towpath diversion currently in place between Lock 58 and Lock 61 for non-boating towpath users will remain in place until June 2023.

There is no through route between lock 60 and lock 61 or around the perimeter of Wilton Water via Public Rights of Way.

Please refer to local diversion routes in the area.

This will ensure that everyone is kept safe and help conserve water while we cannot pump at Crofton.

Update on 20/04/2023:

Please be advised that preparation for imminent work at Caen Hill Pumping Station, means that we must delay the opening of Crofton Flight on Friday 21^st April.

 Opening hours at Crofton for this one day, will be 14:00 – 19:00, after which we will revert to the times previously advertised.

 This is necessary because it has proved impossible to make the temporary pump connections we need at Crofton, with the flight in use. We appreciate that this late notice will inconvenience and delay some customers, and sincerely apologise for the short notice.

RESTRICTION (9.30am Saturday 1 April until Friday 30 June 2023)

Please be advised that whilst work continues to finish construction of the new pumping station at Crofton, opening hours for Crofton and Wootton Rivers flights will be 09:30 to 15:30hrs each day until the end of June, this is to preserve water supplies and help recovery each day.

Please note that the Wootton Rivers and Crofton Lock Flights will be locked outside of these hours.

The loose boat sighted between Bridge 4 (Lloyds) and Bridge 5 (Bulkington Road) has now been successfully secured.

Navigation of this section can now continue as normal.

We will update the website tomorrow (Tuesday 4th April) or as soon as we receive more information on this.

Loose boat reported between Bridge 4 (Lloyds) and Bridge 5 (Bulkington Road). 

It is slightly obscuring the navigation, so proceed with care. 

The out of hours team will monitor the situation over the weekend.

We advise all powered and unpowered craft not to navigate because the strong flows make it difficult and dangerous

Lock 94, Hanwell Flight

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10.30am Friday 31 March 2023 until further notice)

The lock cannot be used as both gate paddles have failed. We are working on repair and timescales and will update when we know more.

Unfortunately due to this, passage to and from Brentford and Thames Lock through the Hanwell Flight is not possible.

Barrowford Customer Services

Update on 03/04/2023:

We are pleased to advise Barrowford Customer Service Facilities are back open following a successful repair to the drainage system.

Please be advised Barrowford Customer Service Facilities are currently closed due to blocked drains.

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their attendance on site Monday 3 April.

An update will be provided Monday 3 April.

Queens Dock, Liverpool, Liverpool Link Canal
Coburg Fixed Bridge

RESTRICTION (7am-7pm Thursday 30 March 2023)

Please be advised a crane and third-party divers will be in the water at Queens Dock on the Liverpool Link Canal to carry out an installation of a discharge pipe to third party owned asset. 

Whilst navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to stop to allow the pontoon and equipment to be moved out the way for safe passage. We anticipate a wait of no longer than 30 minutes. Please listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors and take note of the signage onsite.
