Update on 17/04/2023:

We have obtained further information on the location of the tree in the navigation.

Location:  Upstream of Tinker roads. Downstream of Riccall Manor.

We will update the notice when the tree has been removed.

ADVICE (3pm Thursday 13 April 2023 until further notice)

It is suspected that there is a tree in the River Ouse between Riccall and Cawood.

Could skippers of all crafts, please slow down and approach the area with caution.

Due to the dense vegetation, it has been difficult to locate the exact location of the tree from the surrounding land.

EU networks employing JSM to clear ducts beneath towpath for fibre works.

Towpath to remain open with width maintained.

Update on 12/04/2023:

The work has been completed and both Lock 22 and 23 have fully operational tail gate paddles but unfortunately it’s a little bit late to refill the pounds we lowered to do the work. We have refitted the boards and opened the feeder so the pounds will naturally fill overnight and be ready for navigation first thing in the morning.

RESTRICTION (9.30am Wednesday 12 April until 4.30pm Thursday 13 April 2023)

To complete repairs to the tail paddles at Lock 22 and 23 we will have to lower the pounds at 21 and 22 over the course of the day. We expect if everything goes well we will be able to complete both repairs today, however there is the possibility we may have to finish the job tomorrow if it takes longer than we hope. We will keep you up to date as soon as it becomes clear how the job is progressing.

Banbury Services Elsan

Due to a blockage the Elsan at Banbury Services is currently out of order.

We will continue to update this notice with more information when we know more.

Sparks Lane Services

ADVICE (11am Tuesday 11 April 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised the elsan facility at Sparks Lane Customer Service Facilities on Rufford Branch is currently out of use due to broken fittings.  All other facilities are still in use.

Contractors have been informed.

An update will be provided Friday 14 April.

Bridge 134, Caughall

Update on 14/04/2023:

Please be advised that the BT contractors have been delayed. They are expected to attend next week.

A further update will be provided on Tuesday, 18th April.

Update on 12/04/2023:

Please be advised BT contractors have not carried out the necessary repairs.

Our local teams will be monitoring the site.

An update will be provided on Friday 14^th April.

RESTRICTION (until 4pm Wednesday 12 April 2023)

Please be advised that a BT telephone pole has collapsed, leaving a low cable across the towpath at Bridge 134, Caughall Road on the Shropshire Union Canal.

Our local team have informed BT Contractors, who have been onsite, to tie hazard tape to the cable initially and we anticipate they will return to cut and remove the cable this afternoon.

Signage will be in place on approach to the hazard.

An update will be provided 12^thApril.

Lapworth/ Kingswood Customer Service Facility

Update on 13/04/2023:

The pump out is now working again.

ADVICE (1pm Tuesday 11 April 2023 until further notice)

There is an issue with the card reader on the pump out so it is currently out of order.

Please bear with us whilst our contractors resolve the issue.

Update on 12/04/2023:

Fallen tree has been cleared. Boaters can now proceed as normal.

RESTRICTION (Tuesday 11 April 2023 until further notice)

There is a fallen tree on the offside between Bottom Half Mile lock 26 and Top Half Mile lock 25 on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal.

The tree is partially blocking the navigation. Narrowboats will be able to pass, but widebeams may not.

The local team expect to remove the tree tomorrow and we will then update the website.

Update on 09/04/2023:

Our onsite team have cleared the obstruction from the Bottom Gate Cill, Lock 64 Boxmoor is now open to Navigation

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (5.15pm Sunday 9 April 2023 until further notice)

 Due to an obstruction below water level on the t/path Bottom gate Cill, navigation at lock 64 Boxmoor will be closed.

we have a team on site working Hard to clear the obstruction, updates to follow.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.30pm Saturday 8 April 2023 until further notice)

A gate paddle was left open overnight resulting in the pound being drained. 

Attempts have been made this morning to recover levels by sending water down from the summit, however refill is proving to be slow. 

The pound will be closed to navigation for the rest of the day to allow levels to recover and the position will be reviewed on Sunday 9th April 2023 before 12noon and an update given. 

Bridge 17, Quay Street Loco Liftbridge

Update on 09/04/2023:

Contractors have visited site and repaired the bridge.  Bridge is operational and the navigation is now open. 

RESTRICTION (3pm Saturday 8 April until 5pm Sunday 9 April 2023)

Loco Bridge on the Huddersfield Broad canal is not operating. 

Engineers have visited site and a part is awaited for repair.

Our team have successfully completed repairs to Broadmoor Lock 24

Unrestricted navigation now open.

Update on 13/04/2023:

Repairs to lock 24 are planned for Friday 14/04/2023.

These repairs will take place between 08:30am and 12:30pm

Assisted passage through locks 23 and 24 will be available until 4pm Thursday 14/04/2023.

Navigation through lock 24 is assisted passage only due to a defective ground paddle.

The navigation will be available every day at the following times.

08:30 to 11:30

13:00 to 16:00

The lock will be closed to navigation outside of these hours.

Ramsden Boaters Facilities, Stanley Ferry

Due to a vadalised tap the hot water has been turned off in the boaters facilities. 

Cold water is still available.
