Lock 20 East, Spot Lock NAVIGATION CLOSURE (6.45pm Tuesday 30 January 2024 until further notice) The paddles on the head gate at lock 20e have failed. We will investigate to find the cause of the failure and will then make the necessary repairs. The lock will be out of action until this work is complete. An update will be given on 2nd February. Lock 14, Newark Nether Lock Our electrical engineers have carried out the repairs and Nether Lock is now operational. ADVICE (Tuesday 30 January 2024 until further notice) The Strong Stream Advice issued for the River Nene has been lifted. All locks that were closed to discharge flood waters have been re-opened. Pump Out Bosley Services We are pleased to advise that the Pump Out facility at Bosley Customer Service Facilities, Macclesfield Canal, is now back in use. Boothferry Swingbridge – 1 week notice needed for passage We have been advised by East Riding Council, that there is still an on-going technical issue with Boothferry Swingbridge. It will now need to be operated by 2/3 people, 1 weeks notice is needed to obtain staff to operate the swingbridge. Can skippers please contact the bridge operators on 01430 430256 if a swing is required. We will update the notice when the technical issues have been resolved. Anderton Customer Services ADVICE (10am Tuesday 30 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised Anderton Customer Service Facilities are currently closed due to blocked drains. Contractors have been informed. An update will be provided Thursday 1st February. Foulridge Tunnel North East Portal ADVICE (8am Monday 29 January 2024 0until further notice) Please be advised from Monday 29 January our contractors will be undertaking improvement works to the traffic light system at Foulridge Tunnel, and as a result the traffic light system at the tunnel portals will not be working. We politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors on site. Water levels ADVICE (10am Monday 29 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised that river levels between Lock 9 Lincomb & Lock 7 Bevere Lock are currently designated: Yellow (falling) PROCEED WITH CAUTION Please take extra care when navigating the river and be aware of the risk of floating debris. CAUTION STRONG STREAM We advise users of all boats not to navigate because the strong flows make it difficult and dangerous (Locks may be closed) Orton Lock Updated 29/01/2024: Please be aware that the log in the lock pen has now been removed but the log jammed underneath the structure downstream of the lock, remains. Starts At: Lock 40, Bakers Lock CAUTION STREAM DECREASING We advise users of all unpowered boats not to navigate and users of powered boats to navigate with caution. Westminster Council owned bridge from Lisson Grove Estate closed for refurbishment. Towpath and navigation to remain open and passable at all times. Completion date has been changed to the 30.06.2024 Top Gate, Uxbridge NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Monday 29 January until 4pm Friday 1 March 2024) Further investigations have identified more extensive brickwork repairs are required. The delivery team have looked at several options to complete the works within the original schedule but this is now not possible due to overlapping activities which can’t be safely done concurrently and the time required for curing of the brickwork repairs. Therefore a 2-week extension is required which means we will be on site from the 29 January through to the 1 March 2024.Update on 30/01/2024:

Whilst navigation will remain open, customers may be asked to wait 60 minutes to allow the third-party contractors make way for a safe passage.
Any boats wishing to navigate the tunnel must follow the timings on the notice boards at the tunnel portals.
An update will be provided following the installation of the new lighting system and completion of the works.
