by

Stafford Riverway Link (SRL) are organising an Open weekend event to mark the 250th anniversary of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal. It is also 25 years since the formation of the Stafford Riverway Link C.I.C, making it a double celebration.

Stafford Riverway Link Anniversary Open Weekend

The large fete event will take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2022 from 10am until 5pm on both days and will be held at SRL’s Baswich site, off Baswich Lane, Stafford. Admission and car parking for the public will be free.

In addition to a variety of stalls, games and refreshments including a Titanic Brewery beer tent, there will be a floating market of several trade boats moored on the canal adjacent to the site and free canal boat trips will be provided by Anglo-Welsh Narrowboats.

SRL Chair, Paul Bryan said, “As well as being an anniversary celebration for ourselves and the Staffs. and Worcs. Canal, it’s also a great opportunity for local people and their families to visit our site, find out about the history of the Canal, the Link into Stafford and the restoration work we’ve carried out so far. It’s also a way for us to say thank you to our volunteers, members, the local community and businesses for the great support they’ve given us so far. Please come along and have an enjoyable time with us and the various stalls and activities taking place over the weekend.”
