TO CELEBRATE World Water Day, singers across the East Midlands are heading to Nottingham for a special canalside choir festival in aid of water-based charities.

Taking place on Friday March 22, it will help to raise funds for the Canal & River Trust, RNLI West Bridgford and WaterAid.

Members of the public are being invited to the event to see some of the region’s most popular choirs and community singing groups perform a range of water-themed songs.

The event is free to enter and as well as the singing there will also be stalls for charities involved where people can find out more about their work, make a donation, learn about volunteering or buy merchandise. There will also be a water purification demonstration by Aquabox, Wirksworth, on behalf of WaterAid.

Organiser of the event, and Canal & River Trust volunteer, Barbara Hillier said: “We know that spending time by water and singing are both great for your mental health, so what could be more relaxing than enjoying some live music by our wonderful canals?

“Come along, enjoy some live music and help support the vital work of the Canal & River Trust, RNLI and WaterAid.”
