THE Wakefield Scouts have unveiled Scouting Explorer, the latest addition to its canal boat fleet, following months of dedicated renovation work by volunteers and committee members.

The vessel, which has been transformed into a fully equipped hire boat, is intended to provide young people in Scouting with new opportunities for adventure, teamwork, and learning on the region’s waterways. The project has been described as a passion project by those involved, with countless hours invested in restoring and refitting the boat to meet the needs of scouting groups.
Committee members say the renovation reflects a strong commitment to expanding outdoor experiences for young people while making practical use of canal heritage. Once complete, Scouting Explorer will join the Wakefield Scouts’ existing boats, strengthening its ability to offer unique water-based activities.
