LOCAL MP & COUNCILLORS TO JOIN COMMON LAND BOUNDARY DEMONSTRATION

by

Protect Dunsfold PLAN B

Protect Dunsfold is organising NOW to ensure Plan B is ready should UK Oil and Gas’ appeal against Surrey County Council be successful, allowing them to proceed to drill at High Loxley. The strongest strategy within our power is to demonstrate that access to High Loxley Road from the B2130 at Pratts Corner (a local crash site) is IMPOSSIBLE for UKOG’s larger vehicles to negotiate without incursion over common land either side of that junction. UKOG will be made aware that problems with access will fatally endanger their plans for the drill site down High Loxley Road.

Dunsfold to to toe, protect Dunsford

This common land has strong protection under law, which Waverley Borough Council (WBC) is responsible for enforcing. Plan B is working with WBC to define the exact boundaries of the highway and the common land; there are differing maps showing variations on the boundaries but once defined, we will mark clearly. With volunteer resources we will oppose and obstruct any party impinging on common land contrary to law, and will resist both in law and physically, any attempt by UKOG to access any public highway or private land if the size of any vehicle attempting access necessitates incursion onto common land no matter how transient, small or insubstantial such an incursion is.

If necessary, we will resist incursions physically and will prosecute to the full extent of the law any party who inflicts damage or harm, no matter how small, on any person or property positioned to prevent incursions over the common land.

We have assured support from Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, our local MP, Leader of Waverley Borough Council, Paul Follows and WBC Environmental Portfolio holder, Steve Williams, other representatives from Surrey County and local Parishes have also pledged support to local people who are concerned about the environmental impact of UKOG’s plans. We are going to stand together with our toes on the boundary line to demonstrate the exact end of the highway and start of the common land. Our gathering will be publicised on local and national media as the launch of Plan B.
