A CELEBRATORY flotilla marked Goole’s 200th anniversary, retracing the historic 1826 arrival of 50 vessels that heralded the port’s opening.
The modern fleet assembled at the Dog and Duck area, near Goole Marina, on July 18, navigating through South Dock bridge and around the docks under the lead of an ABP survey vessel and accompanied by police officers on jet-skis.
Cruisers, Dutch barges, narrowboats, historic keels and commercial craft took part, many decorated and sounding horns to honour the bicentenary.

Crowds gathered at Dutch Riverside, dockside walkways and Bridge Street to photograph the procession, and Towpath Talk was there to catch the action too – visit www.towpathtalk.co.uk to see more photos and a video.
The flotilla was among a varied programme of events marking the birthday of the town in East Yorkshire.
