Update on 28/06/2021:

A final fitting of guide rail templates for Town Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation was completed on 17 June. The roller assemblies have been completed and the guide rails are now being fabricated.

There is currently a delay of 2 weeks in the fabrication of these parts which has impacted on our completion date. We anticipate these repair works will now finish late August.

Traffic management has been booked for Sunday highway closures commencing on 22 August to allow the bridge to be realigned following the installation of the lateral restraint system. Following the successful completion of this we will be able to re-open the bridge to navigation for vessels with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m.

Until then, navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m.

A further update will be provided Monday 23 August.

Update on 30/04/2021:

The emergency works to repair the vital operational components at Town Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation following the damage sustained during the flooding of Storm Christoph are now complete and we are now able to resume with the planned combined works.

Our teams are now clearing the debris which has collected around the bridge during the flooding in order to complete a swing survey which is crucial in continuing with the combined works. This has been arranged for next week. Following this survey, fabrication of the parts required will take 4 weeks, our teams will then move on to the installation period.

Unfortunately, we were unable to progress with this survey until repairs to the operational components were complete which has resulted in a significant delay. We anticipate works will be complete by 8 August, until then, navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draft greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m.
