ADVICE (Until 5pm Sunday 31 July 2022)

Update on 11/07/2022:

Bird mesh installation and brickwork repairs on central pier have been completed and the pontoon has been removed from canal.

Contractors will need to come back to complete further brickwork repairs and to install the bird mesh to both abutments, but these works will be carried out without closing the towpath or restricting the navigation. Banksmen and signage will be utilised to manage towpath users.

Update on 01/07/2022:

Bird mesh installation and brickwork repairs have been completed on 01/07/22. However, pontoon suppliers won’t be able to remove the pontoon until 08/07/22 so pontoon will remain to one side of the central pier until then.

Navigation traffic will be restricted to single lane traffic through the site until 08/07/22. Banksmen and signage will be utilised to manage canal traffic. We kindly remind boaters to take extra care when passing this section.

The northern towpath will be open on 01/07/22.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (until 5pm Friday 1 July 2022)

Update on 22/06/2022:

The bird mesh fabricators are unable to complete their installation until 01/07/2022.

The Northern towpath will remain closed, and the pontoon installed to one side of the central pier until 01/07/2022.

Towpath access past the bridge will still be available on the Southern towpath side. Navigation will be restricted to single lane traffic through the site.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (8am Monday 13 June until 5pm Friday 24 June 2022)

Update on 13/06/2022:

Due to a delay in the fabrication of the bird mesh, remaining brickwork repairs and installation of the bird mesh will be carried out from 13/06/2022 to 24/06/2022.

The northern towpath will be closed, and a pontoon installed to one side of the central pier.

Towpath access past the bridge will still be available on the southern towpath, and navigation traffic will be restricted to single lane traffic through the site.

Banksmen and signage will be utilised to manage canal traffic. We kindly remind boaters to take extra care when passing this section
