Bridge 83, Keadby Rail Drawbridge

Update on 05/08/2022:

Network rail have informed us that they will allow 2 passages per day until the bridge has been fully repaired.  These will be 9:00am and 13:00pm when their contractors will be onsite to facilitate this. These times are earlier in the day before the heat impacts on the operation of the bridge.

Update on 26/07/2022:

Network Rail are on strike 27/07/22.

This will mean there will be no passages through the Rail Bridge on that date.  The assisted passages will resume 28/07/22 9:00am and 15:00pm

We have been informed by Network Rail that due to breakdowns and a safety issue the bridge will be closed until contractors have rectified the issue.

We have been informed by Network Rail that due to breakdowns the bridge will be closed until further notice.

Update on 21/07/2022:

We have received updated information from Network Rail for the operation of Keadby Rail Bridge as follows:

  • Keadby Rail bridge shall only be operated on two occasions per day at 09:00 and 13:00. Boats wishing to make passage should be at the bridge for this time. Any boats arriving after this time will need to wait for the next passage window.
  • Keadby Canal bridge shall be closed (not operated for canal traffic) following a forecast of greater than 26 degrees air temperature.
  •  
  • Once closed due to an air temperature of 26 degrees the bridge shall not be operated until there has been a period of 12 hours below a forecast of 26 degrees air temperature.

These operating criteria will be in use until such a time as we are advised differently by Network Rail.

Update on 15/07/2022:

Network Rail have just informed us they will open the bridge for one passage and have asked boaters to be at the bridge for 8am and not 9am as previously advised.

Network Rail have advised us that the Keadby Rail Drawbridge will not be operational due to the extreme heat from 9am 16/07/22 until further notice. 

We will update the notice as soon as we receive any further information.

Update on 13/07/2022:

Network rail have advised that due to the current temperatures, the drawbridge will not be able to operate until further notice.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7pm Friday 8 July until 7pm Tuesday 12 July 2022)

Network Rail have informed the Trust that the heat impacts on the ability to operate the structure so during this three day period the canal will be closed as below.

1100 Sunday 10th July and 1900 Sunday 10th July

1100 Monday 11th July and 1900 Monday 11th July

1100 Tuesday 12th July and 1900 Tuesday 12th July
