We’re pleased to advise the team have been able to make the site safe again, and the navigation and towpath are now back open.
Update on 23/11/2023:
The navigation and towpath remain closed today due to a collapsing bank on the offside. We’re working with the landowner to get this repaired, and we should be able open navigation again soon.
We’ll be in a position to provide another update, including a re-opening date and time, tomorrow.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Wednesday 22 November 2023 until further notice)
We’re sorry to report that a recent inspection has shown this section of towpath and navigation to be unsafe, and we have taken the decision to close it immediately. Until we can determine the stability of the embankment, the section from Bridge 63 to Bridge 64 on the South Stratford Canal will remain closed while further investigations are carried out.
A further update will be provide on Friday 24th November.
