Haddlesey Flood Lock (Lock 2)

Update on 03/11/2023:

Bank Dole Lock and Haddlesey Lock remains closed Inspection of the failed lock gate has revealed the damage is more severe than first thought. The gate will have to lifted out and removed from site for repair before being brought back to site and refitted. Work to lift the gate out and removed it from site will take place Tuesday 7th November.  At this time it is not known how long it will take to repair the gate and return it to Bank Dole for refitting. This notice will be updated as soon as there is more information to share and no later than 16:00hrs Tuesday 7th November. Canal and River Trust apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.3

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11.15am Thursday 19 October 2023 until further notice)

Haddlesey Lock is also closed and passage is not possible due to the structure failure at Bank Dole Lock.

The bottom riverside lock gate has suffered a structural failure at Bank Dole Lock.

Our engineers have inspected the gate and advised the lock must be closed until suitable repairs to the lock gate can be undertaken.

Repairs to the lock gate are being planned now and hopefully these can be undertaken soon and allow the lock to reopen.

It is not possible at this time to confirm any timeframe for when the repairs will take place and the lock reopen for normal use.  It is unlikely the repairs will take place this week, therefore it is unlikely the lock will reopen until sometime next week at the earliest.
