Damage to River Pump
Starts At: Lock 7
Ends At: Lock 16

Update on 23/06/2022:

The water levels have been recovering well since the replacement pump was installed yesterday and we can now reopen the navigation.

We are however experiencing a persistent leak through the head gate at Lock 7 and we want to ensure that we are reducing the risk of low water levels returning.

As a short term measure, until the leak can be further investigated and a suitable repair established, Lock 7 will be open for passage from 9am to 3pm only, with last entry through the lock being 3pm.

Outside of these hours the lock will be chained up and we will wash the gate at the end of each day to help ensure leakage is reduced overnight. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Update on 22/06/2022:

The pump has now been replaced and is fully operational.

Water levels are recovering and we will review first thing tomorrow morning with a view of reopening the navigation.

Update on 21/06/2022:

Contractors have attended site today and were unable to fix the fault and will need to replace the pump. The craning in of a replacement pump has been scheduled for tomorrow morning.

We will update the notice once water levels have improved.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Monday 20 June 2022 until further notice)

Due to suspected vandalism of the river pump at Lock 16, which is pumping water from the river to the canal, the pump is now non operational.

We are working to try and get this back up and running as soon as we can.

As a consequence water levels have been affected and we need to implement a temporary navigational closure between Lock 7 and Lock 16 until we have this issue resolved.
