We are pleased to advise the electric fault has now been resolved at Bridge 24, Wood End Lift Bridge on the Peak Forest Canal and navigation has resumed.

Please be advised navigation is currently closed at Bridge 24, Wood End Lift Bridge on the Peak Forest Canal due to and electric fault. Our contractors have been informed and they are expected to be on site tomorrow.

Update on 23/10/2023:
Please be advised, due to other arising emergencies across the North West region there has been a delay in our specialist contractors attending Bridge 24, Wood End Lift Bridge on the Peak Forest Canal.
We now anticipate their attendance tomorrow morning.
We’d like to thank any affected customers for their patience during this emergency closure.
A further update will be provided tomorrow, Tuesday 24 October.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (5.30pm Sunday 22 October 2023 until further notice)
One of the two hydraulic pumps which lifts the bridge, has failed.
Our contractors attended today but were unable to carry out the repair at the time due to a replacement part being required.
We will provide an update tomorrow (Monday).
