Our local operations team have now attended to locks 16 and 17 of the Northampton Arm and can report that the levels are navigable. Boaters can proceed as normal.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Tuesday 26 September 2023 until further notice)
We have received reports of low water levels affecting the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal between Locks 16 and 17, near the city center. Several boats are currently grounded as a result.
Our local operations team has been notified and will attend the site as soon as possible to raise the water levels.
We kindly request boaters to avoid this area until the levels are sufficient to allow navigation.
We will provide an update to this notice by 5pm today or as soon as we receive more information, whichever occurs first.
