We are pleased to advise the repair to Lock 2, Stanthorne Lock, on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal has been successful and navigation has resumed.

Update on 09/10/2023:
Work is progressing well at Lock 2, Stanthorne Lock, on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.
We received all the necessary materials and the fabricated parts over the weekend which has allowed our North West Reactive team to commence the repair work today.
We’re hopeful to resume navigation by the afternoon of Wednesday 11 October.
A further update will be provided Tuesday 10 October.
Update on 06/10/2023:
Our local team & engineers have been to site to investigate the failed tie bars within the tailgate of Lock 2, Stanthorne Lock, on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.
We have established a method of repair and we’re now awaiting our specialist contractors to fabricate the necessary parts over the weekend which are required for the works, we anticipate the parts will be delivered early next week.
Our teams and contractors will be returning to site Monday to commence the required work.
A further progress update will be provided the afternoon of Monday 9 October.
