Lock 89
Update on 14/03/2022:
We are pleased to advise divers have removed the blockage at Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and navigation has resumed.
Update on 08/03/2022:
Please be advised navigation remains closed at Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a significant blockage underneath the lock gate preventing the lock from being operated.
Divers will be onsite on Monday morning to inspect the cause and attempt to remove the blockage. If it is established that the cill has lifted, a method of repair will be organised.
A further update will be provided by Tuesday, 15 March.
Update on 01/03/2022:
Please be advised navigation remains closed at Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal whilst we further our investigations. Initial inspections have shown a significant blockage underneath the lock gate preventing the lock from being operated.
Our teams are now organising further investigations that will require use of dams, or divers, to inspect the cause.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Friday 25 February 2022 until further notice)
Please be advised navigation is closed at Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, due to a damaged cill. Our teams have been on site today attempting a repair, however further inspections from our engineers are now required. They are due onsite on Monday.
