The water levels have recovered on this stretch and we are able to reopen the navigation.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (6.45pm Thursday 31 August 2023)
Paddles have been left open on this stretch of canal and the pump that is used to top up water levels from the river has been switched off and damaged.
The combined result of these incidents is that the water levels between lock12e and 1e are too low to navigate safely.
The pump has been fixed and the water levels are now recovering. Until they are fully recovered this stretch is being closed.
An update will be provided on 1 September.
