Update on 25/07/2022:
Water levels are improving and boaters can now proceed with care.
Due to the recent weather and continued miss-use of our lock gates over the weekend, the levels are still not as high as we would like, and we will continue to monitor them accordingly.
We ask boaters to be mindful of this ongoing issue and to take their time.
If there are any further changes, we will update the website again.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Wednesday 20 July 2022 until further notice)
Our local team have been working hard all week to address the very low water levels.
Due to the continued hot weather, locks gates opened and closed and in some cases deliberately left open, we are struggling to bring the water levels back to normal.
Boats are getting stuck and we therefore request boaters do not travel along the Erewash, until further notice.
We will update the website as soon as the levels have been brought back up to a minimum level.
