Parkhead lock Dudley No 1 Canal
Update on 16/09/2023:
Following advice from West Midlands fire service the canal and towpath have re-opened. WMFS have confirmed there is no risk to the public but will be remaining on site and will continue to pump water out of the canal. The local team have sufficient water resources to enable navigation to continue.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10pm Friday 15 September 2023 until further notice)
Following advice from West Midlands Fire Service, we are advising both boaters and towpath users to avoid the Dudley No 1 Canal due to a major incident and potential poor air quality, especially around the Parkhead lock area.
We will aim to update this notice by 12 noon, Saturday 16th September 2023.
