Update on 17/10/2023:
Due to Covid affecting resources, an additional week is required to complete all planned activities at the Feeder Lock stoppage.
The canal from Boundary Lock to Norwood tunnel will now reopen on Monday 30th October, following completion of the stoppage.
Update on 16/10/2023:
Water resources have recovered and the canal will reopen on the 23rd of October.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Friday 1 September 2023 until further notice)
Low rainfall and diminishing reservoir levels mean we have no option but to close the Chesterfield Canal from Boundary Lock 41 upstream, as we are unable to provide enough water to accommodate boat movements.
The closure will commence on Friday 1st September
We will continue to assess water resources and advise on reopening when supplies are sufficient to ensure boat passage.
