Update on 11/10/2023:
As an update – all works were completed yesterday and there will no need for further repairs and restrictions to lock operation w/c Monday 16th October.

All the repairs are now complete and navigation is open.

The repairs will be carried out today and completed by 16:00hrs.
Update on 06/10/2023:
Repairs to the lock gate will take place on Tuesday 10th of October. It will not be possible to enable any lock passages on this day.
It is hope on completion of these repairs it will be possible to reopen the lock for normal lock operation.
Further repairs are scheduled for week commencing Monday 16th October. Any lock access restrictions will be notified as an update to these notice.
Please note – due to recent very wet weather river levels are rising and all flood gates and locks on Calder & Hebble are currently closed as the river is in flood and in red board conditions. While it is expected that these levels should begin to drop over the next 48hours+ river conditions may not allow for assisted boat passages on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October.

Update on 06/10/2023:
There will no passage today between 12 noon and 2pm due to high water levels and the river is in flood and is in red.
Update on 03/10/2023:
Our Lock Gate Engineer has visited the lock and inspected the damage.
Repairs have been specified but it is unlikely these will take place until the middle of next week.
Until the repairs are undertaken and completed the lock will remain closed for normal user operation.
The lock can be operated by CRT staff/volunteers on one single bottom gate for use by NARROW boats only.
This will take place daily between 12noon and 14:00hrs from Wednesday 4th October until the damaged gate and balance beam are repaired and the lock safe to use for normal user operation.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.30pm Tuesday 3 October until 9am Wednesday 4 October 2023)
There is a structural issue with the bottom towpath side gate making it unsafe to use and operate the lock.
Our Lock Gate Engineer is travelling to site to inspect the gate. Until this has been completed the lock is closed to all boat traffic.
It is hope to provide an update on the situation by 17:00hrs Tuesday 3rd October. If this is not possible the notice will be updated by 09:00hrs Wednesday 4th October.
