Update on 07/11/2023:

Bank Dole Lock remains closed

Inspection of the failed lock gate has revealed the damage is more severe than first thought. The gate will have to lifted out and removed from site for repair before being brought back to site and refitted.

Work to lift the gate out and removed it from site will take place Thursday 9th November.  At this time it is not known how long it will take to repair the gate and return it to Bank Dole for refitting.

This notice will be updated as soon as there is more information to share and no later than 16:00hrs Friday 17th November.

Update on 31/10/2023:

Bank Dole Lock remains closed

Inspection of the failed lock gate has revealed the damage is more severe than first thought. The gate will have to lifted out and removed from site for repair before being brought back to site and refitted.

Work to lift the gate out and removed it from site will take place Tuesday 7th November.  At this time it is not known how long it will take to repair the gate and return it to Bank Dole for refitting.

Update on 19/10/2023:

Equipment and materials are being brought together to facilitate repairs to the failed lock gate. 

Repairs are planned to commence Monday 30th October and unfortunately the lock will remain closed until the repairs are undertaken and completed.

This notice will be updated as soon as there is more information to share and no later than 16:00hrs Tuesday 31st October.


NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4pm Tuesday 17 October 2023 until further notice)

The bottom riverside lock gate has suffered a structural failure.

Our engineers have inspected the gate and advised the lock must be closed until suitable repairs to the lock gate can be undertaken.

Repairs to the lock gate are being planned now and hopefully these can be undertaken soon and allow the lock to reopen.
