Foot/cycle Bridge Construction, New Islington
Starts At: Lock 2
Ends At: Lock 3

ADVICE (7am Thursday 7 July until 7pm Friday 8 July 2022)

Please be advised third-party contractors will be onsite between Lock 3 and Lock 2 on the Ashton Canal to begin ground investigations (Strip Trench Trial Holes) related to the proposed new foot/cycle bridge adjacent to Lock 3, X4 Trial Holes planned within side the towpath side of the canal.

The works are on behalf of the Manchester City Council New Islington Cycleway Footbridge proposal.

Signage and traffic management provisions will be in place, warning both the towpath and canal users of the works and restriction ahead. The towpath width will be reduced with narrowing around the works area.

Boaters when mooring up to operate Lock 3 may be restricted and considerations for mooring will need to be individually assessed depending on the dimensions of the boats wish to moor

Whilst both the towpath and navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors on site
