AL-038-003 – No 2 Swing Bridge, Heck (Gibson’s)
Update on 28/09/2023:
The microlight is still present as the owner is to arrange the retrieval of the object from the navigation. This will involve divers for the removal.
The microlight is not causing any impact upon the passage of the navigation for boaters, we just advise to slow down and be aware of your surroundings when passing through this section.
We are anticipating that this will be retrieved by the end of November at the very latest
ADVICE (5pm Saturday 16 September 2023 until further notice)
There has been an incident on the Aire and Calder near Great Heck where a small helicopter has crashed into the navigation.
Fortunately, no one is hurt and no known damage has occurred. The fire service have measured the depth of the helicopter at approximately 3-4m deep in between the narrows where the old swing bridge was.
Can all craft please proceed with caution at this location.
If you know that the draft of your boat is over 3m deep, please do not navigate past this location until further notice.
