THE UK Maritime Heritage Forum has opened a call for papers ahead of its 2026 conference, to be held on October 20-22 at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham. The venue, spanning 80 acres and more than 400 years of shipbuilding history, will host professionals from across the maritime heritage sector for three days of discussion, reflection, and shared practice.

Organisers are seeking contributions on the theme ‘Challenges for the Future,’ inviting proposals on changing audiences, climate pressures, fundraising, cyber security, volunteer recruitment and the preservation of traditional skills. Submissions may take the form of 20-minute illustrated papers, five-minute updates, or poster presentations.

The forum emphasises cross sector insight and welcomes proposals from outside maritime heritage. A limited number of sponsored places will be available for contributors unable to meet the conference fee. Summaries of 300 words must be submitted by noon on May 29 to https://tinyurl.com/UKMaritimeHeritageForum2026
