To celebrate River Canal Rescue’s 25th anniversary, managing director Stephanie Horton is giving away prizes every month, throughout the year. In October, Towpath Talk readers can win a place on one of RCR’s boat and engine maintenance courses, worth £315.

The two-day course covers how to maintain diesel engines and the systems within a narrowboat, such as propulsion, cooling, engine servicing and fault finding, and is led by RCR’s Kerry Horton and Dave Bull. You’ll also receive a certificate and a Narrow Boat Engine Maintenance and Repair book.
Held at RCR’s Stafford HQ, the course runs twice a month, with dates available throughout the year.
Entries close at 23.59 on 31/10/25 and the winner will be drawn on 01/11/25. The winner will be notified within 14 days of the close of entries. The draw is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Entry is free and open to residents of the UK aged over 18. Only one entry permitted per person, there is no cash alternative, and the prize is not transferable. By entering, you agree to be bound by all the rules and agree that your name and county may be released if you win.
