A Braunston-based community boating charity is inviting new volunteers to join ahead of a busy season. LNBP Community Boating offers canal boat experiences and relies on volunteers to support its work.
LNBP Community Boating is a non-profit charity offering the opportunity for community groups of all ages and interests, both locally and from all over the UK and overseas, to enjoy residential short breaks and holidays on two full-sized canal boats it operates from moorings at Braunston, near Daventry, Northamptonshire.

As a non-profit charity, it is reliant on the efforts of a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. They have provided canal boat experiences for more than 45 years and are now keen to welcome new volunteer members ahead of another busy season.
There is a wide range of opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds, including boat handling and skippering, fundraising, general administration, or welcoming group guests. Many of the LNBP team bring varied skill sets and experience from their current or previous professional roles.
Chair Paul Iverson said: “We continue to have a great team at LNBP, but as with all things, we would love to even more people involved to distribute the duties canal side, on the boats, and behind the scenes more evenly.

“There are so many benefits to volunteering with us, so why not consider getting involved – could this be your year, your time, and an opportunity to give something back to your local community or a charitable organisation? If you are 16 years old and over, the LNBP would love to hear from you.”
While LNBP welcomes interest from people of all ages, it is particularly keen to hear from those aged between 16 and 25, especially anyone with social media, graphic design, photography or videography skills.
Mr Iverson added: “We are always looking towards the future and especially with our 50th anniversary being not too far away, so it would be great to have younger members join and to potentially take us forward into the future.
“As well as the opportunity to make new friends, there is a lot to gain from volunteering with us, with chance to learn new skills or further develop existing ones, gain practical work experience or work towards other qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.”
