Electrika 2025, the second ever gathering of narrowboat owners, industry experts and manufacturers, is shining the spotlight on sustainable boating. Lucy Wood reports…
With more and more electric narrow boats on the canal network and increasing interest in sustainable boating, Electrika aims to encourage and support the wider adoption of electric propulsion on the UK waterways.
With 14 new exhibitors, a full fleet of 10 showboats and entertainment on both nights, Electrika 2025 is building on the success of last year’s pioneering event to position itself as the go-to show for anyone interested in electric narrowboats.

Organised by Ortomarine, in partnership with Aquavista, it is taking place on July 11 and 12 at Brinklow Waterside & Marina, Cathiron Lane, Rugby, CV23 0JH.
“Over the last few years a near-silent revolution has been taking place as a new generation of electric propelled, hybrid narrowboats have been launched on UK waterways,” said Ortomarine, which specialises in building electric narrowboats.
“Adoption has been slowly gathering momentum, but finding good information is difficult, even at national boat shows. Electrika 2025 aims to provide a meeting point for early adopters, manufacturers and potential new owners to share information and real-life experience of this exciting new technology.
“It will be held over two days and entry is free. Availability is limited to 500 spaces per day, so we do ask that people only reserve tickets for one or other of the two days (not both). Tickets must be reserved using the website and are not available from any other source. This year there will be a limited number of camping pitches for tents and motorhomes, and there will be live entertainment and a bar after the show each night. These will be issued on a first come, first served basis and must be booked via Brinklow Waterside and Marina.
“In addition to the exhibition, attendees will be able to experience first-hand the joy of silent cruising as ABC Leisure Group will be running trips on one of their all-electric day boats.”
