RESTRICTION (10am Monday 19 June 2023 until further notice) A fallen tree is blocking the towpath and the navigation near to Bridge 55 in the area of Foxton on the Leicester Arm of the GU Canal. Our operations team have been made aware and are arranging for contractors to attend. It is estimated that the tree will be cleared by the end of tomorrow. We will post an update on this as soon as we receive one from the team. Devizes Wharf elsan Further to the notice below, we are pleased to advise that the elsan at Devizes Wharf has now been repaired and is fully operational. We are sorry to advise that Devizes Wharf elsan has failed and is currently unavailable. Our contractors have been informed and we will update this notice as soon as we have more information. Pump out The pump out is now back working again. ADVICE (9am Tuesday 20 June 2023 until further notice) The pump out only is currently out of order due to no power at the card reader. Please bear with us whilst we investigate the cause. Lock 15, Cromwell Lock – Top Chamber The required repairs have been completed and the lighting is working as normal. Inovyn Cladding Replacement, Rudheath ADVICE (Monday 19 June until 5pm Tuesday 3 October 2023) Please be advised third-party contractors will be onsite between Bridge 188A and Bridge 188 on the Trent & Mersey Canal to replace cladding on buildings at the Inovyn works, on the offside of the canal at Rudheath. A temporary high-level scaffold will be in place, which will be overhanging the canal, but clearance will not be affected. Warning signage will be in place. Whilst both the towpath and navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors on site. Lincoln Moorings (Female) – CSF Our contractors have been on site today and removed 3 x plastic caps off cassette toilets, which were blocking the pipework. The Elsan is now working again, but we kindly advise our customers to be more mindful when using this facility. Resolving issues caused by inappropriate use is an unnecessary expense and inconveniences to other customers. Our contractors continue to deal with the issues at Lincoln Elsan. We will update the website on Wednesday 28th June with more information. Unfortunately, the site will remain deadlocked until this matter is resolved. Betweeen Birstall Lock (River Soar) and Kings Lock (Grand Union Leicester Line) Intersection of: Lock 45 – Birstall Lock to Lock 45 – Birstall Lock on River Soar and Lock 38 – Kings Lock to Lock 38 – Kings Lock on Leicester Line (Grand Union Canal) Water levels have come back down and boaters can now proceed as normal. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Tuesday 20 June 2023 until further notice) Due to flash flooding in the Leicester area, we have had to close the navigation between Birstall Lock and Kings Lock. Cawood Swingbridge – unable to swing North Yorkshire Council, have now advised the bridge is operational. The Navigation is now Open. RESTRICTION (until further notice) North Yorkshire County Council have advised that Cawood Bridge has developed a fault and is unable to swing. Skippers should contact the bridge operators if a swing is required. Engineers are on their way and shall update the notice with any further information Between Vines Park Barge Lock 8 and Lock 6, Droitwich Junction Intersection of: Lock 7, River Lock to Lock 6, Body Brook on Droitwich Junction Canal and This section of the navigation was re-opened yesterday as water levels returned to safe levels. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Tuesday 20 June 2023 until further notice) We have had to close this section of the canal due to flooding in the canalised section of the River Salwarpe. We will review the situation and open the canal as soon as it is safe to do so.
