Buckby Lock Flight
Lock 13

Update on 17/07/2023:

There will be a temporary restriction at Lock 13 on the Buckby Lock Flight, on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th July.

This is for essential, emergency repairs to the lock beam. Boaters may be held up for up to an hour at a time whilst this work takes place.  

Please follow advice given on site.  

RESTRICTION (10am Friday 14 July 2023 until further notice)

Glengall Bridge
Up Stream Winding Hole: MW-001-061

ADVICE (8am-5pm Friday 14 July 2023)

Third party contractors will be carrying out a dive survey on the North side of Glengall bridge (near Muirfield Crescent). Please respect their flag markers and stay clear of the area.

Pumpout
Sanitary Station, Little Venice

Update on 14/07/2023:

The pump has been removed from site and assessed by our pump maintenance contractors. They have advised that the pump is beyond repair and a complete overhaul of the existing pump or a replacement pump is now required. 

The contractors are currently pricing up the recommended options which they will provide to the Trust as soon as possible.

ADVICE (12noon Tuesday 2 May 2023 until further notice)

Due to a mechanical fault the Pumpout at Little Venice has been rendered unusable.

We will continue to update this notice with more information when our team have reviewed the site.

Water Point, Great Haywood

Update on 24/07/2023:

The waterpoint is now back working.

Update on 19/07/2023:

Severn Trent have found the leak to be before the boundary box / meter, and unfortunately they could not instigate a repair as they will need to excavate the roadway.

We are just waiting for contractors to confirm dates so we can arrange for this.

Please be advised the water point at Great Haywood is out of order due to a leak.

Underwater obstruction

The Princess Royal Footbridge, Thorne

Update on 29/08/2023:

The obstruction has been located and has now been removed. 

RESTRICTION (9.30am Friday 14 July 2023 until further notice)

We have received a report of an underwater obstruction approximately 8ft from the bridge towards Keady. 

Please slow down on approach and proceed with care.

We will update the notice once the obstruction has been removed.  

Between Lazy Otter and A10 Road Bridge

Update on 14/07/2023:

Tree maintenance has taken place, therefore, the navigation notice issued for the Old West earlier today has been rescinded.

ADVICE (Friday 14 July 2023 until rescinded)

Please be aware of a fallen tree in the above location. Passage is still possible but please proceed with caution if navigating in this area. We will investigate and carry out tree maintenance works as soon as it’s viable.

Railway Bridge, Albion

ADVICE (8.30am Thursday 13 July until 5pm Friday 14 July 2023)

Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail are carrying out a Principal Inspection of Railway Bridge, Albion.

The canal will remain open throughout the works and a pontoon will be moved out of the way manually to allow passage of approaching boats. Banksmen will be present, and signage will be in place.

We kindly ask customers to slow down and take extra care when passing this area.

Ellesmere Dry Dock & CSF

ADVICE (9am-4pm Thursday 13 July 2023)

Please be advised Ellesmere office, Dry Dock and CSF will be without power tomorrow (Thursday 13th July) from 09:00 until 16:00.

This is due to a planned interruption to the electrical supply in the Ellesmere area – SY12 0GD. 

Hockwold Sluice

ADVICE (Thursday 13 July until Friday 14 July 2023)

A dive inspection is currently taking place at Hockwold Sluice on the Little
Ouse.
If navigating in this area please approach the site with caution and follow
instructions provided by the contractors.

Beeston Lock – CSF

Update on 18/07/2023:

Contractors have attended site and unblocked the elsan.  Boaters can now use the facility as normal. 

We kindly advise our customers to be more mindful when using this facility.  

Resolving issues caused by inappropriate use is an unnecessary expense and inconveniences to other customers. 

Update on 14/07/2023:

The blockage at the Elsan is still not resolved and an urgent re-call has been requested today to attend asap; however, in the meantime the facility will remain closed.

We will update this notice again on the 17th of July, (or sooner if more info is received in the interim).

Update on 13/07/2023:

The blockage is worse then we initially thought, and unfortunately further specialist equipment is requried to resolve this issue. 

Our contractors will be re-attending as a matter of urgency, but this does mean the site will remain deadlock until the work has been completed.

White Mills Lock

Culvert 252, Shipley

RESTRICTION (1pm Wednesday 12 July 2023 until further notice)

A large tree has fallen on the towpath. Walkers will be able to pass this area. This may restrict cyclists and other users of the towpath passing through this area.

Contractors will be attending to remove this tree and an update will be posted on here when we have more details. 

Diglis small and large locks

Further to the notice below, we are pleased to confirm that both Diglis large lock and small lock have now been repaired and are fully operational.

Diglis small lock is currently closed due to an electrical fault.

Further to the notice below, Diglis large lock is currently out of order and inoperable due to a faulty paddle.

Diglis small lock is working (one gate only).

However there is a restiction to the small lock to craft under nine foot six inches wide.

Further to the notice below, the small lock at Diglis is still currently out of action, however the large lock has now been fixed and is fully operable.

: Lock 8, Holme Lock

Update on 12/07/2023:

Our maintenance team has been on site first thing this morning, and carried out the required repairs.

Boaters can now operate the lock as normal. 

ADVICE (7.30pm Tuesday 11 July until 9.30am Wednesday 12 July 2023)

Holme Lock has experienced a fault on the user operational pedestal and therefore we have had to close the lock operation – The lock will open again at 09:30am when a lock keeper will be there to operate the lock – We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
