Between the Old Pump House and Lazy Otter Updated on 8/2/2024: The navigation reported obstruction notice issued 7 Feb 24 for floating debris on the Old West towards The Old Pump House has been rescinded. Boating Customers have confirmed the floating debris has now broken up. Wadenhoe Water Point Navigation Advisory Notice issued on 30 January 2024 regarding Wadenhoe Water Point on the River Nene, this is now rescinded as repairs have been carried out. Barnby Dun Vegetation Clearance RESTRICTION (8am Monday 5 February until 6pm Tuesday 6 February 2024) OCS Group Ltd are carrying out vegetation clearance in the area surrounding the overhead powerlines on behalf of National Grid. There maybe a delay of up to 15 minutes for towpath users whilst equipment is moved out of the way. Please follow any instruction from staff on site. Islip Lock and Alwalton Lock ADVICE (Monday 5 February until Friday 9 February 2024) Please be aware that Grab Chains at Islip and Alwalton Locks are damaged. Works are due to take place between the dates stated above to reinstate the damaged chains. The event will use a section of towpath between Brecon Theatre and Talybont Railway Bridge. EVENT (6-10am Sunday 4 February 2024) Please be advised that a long-distance run/walk has been organised by Run Walk Crawl on Sunday 4th February 2024. The event will use a section of towpath between Brecon Theatre and Talybont Railway Bridge. The towpath will remain open although there may be slight delays. Please proceed with care and follow the guidance of the stewards. Irthlingborough Lock Update 1/02/2024: Further to our Navigation Advisory Notices issued 31 January 2024 regarding a log in Irthlingborough Lock Gates and a Tree in Navigation upstream of Irthlingborough Lock, these have been removed and the notices are now rescinded. Near Jackson’s Bridge 41 This tree has now been removed and the navigation is clear. Boaters can proceed as normal. Flint Mill, Middlewich NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am-4pm Thursday 1 February 2024) Please be advised navigation will be closed on Thursday 1 February between Bridge 173 and Bridge 175, Flint Mill on the Trent & Mersey Canal to allow our engineers carry out a detailed inspection of Aqueduct 174, Croxton Tank. Lock 44A, Dukes Cut Lock CAUTION STREAM DECREASING We advise users of all unpowered boats not to navigate and users of powered boats to navigate with caution. Top Bridge approximately 500m below Pillings Lock At Top Bridge, approximately 500m below Pillings Lock, on the River Soar there is a bank slippage. The flood waters have washed back into the navigation and removed a 10m section of bank, where the debris is also encroaching on the towpath. We ask boaters to please pass this section with care while investigations are carried out and caution should also be taken when passing on the towpath. We will update this notice by the 31st March or as soon as we have further information. Meadow Lane -CSF The shower and toilet block at Meadow Lane customer service facility on the Nottingham and Beeston Canal has been cleaned and repaired. However it will remain closed until Friday 1st March 2024, to prevent further vandalism due to anti-social behaviour. Water and elsan disposal remain available. Alternative solutions to improve security and maintain availability of the toilet and showers here are being considered. We will update this notice on the 1st March. DS Landing Stage Godmanchester Lock ADVICE (Wednesday 31 January 2024 until rescinded) Please be aware of a tree which is wedged against the DS landing stage at Godmanchester Lock. Starts At: Bridge 87, Kent Green Bridge Our contractors have now successfully cleared silt from the site, this has allowed our teams to complete the necessary investigations of the culvert located in between Bridge 87, Kent Green Bridge and Lock 13, Hall Green Stop Lock on the Macclesfield Canal. We will be undertaking works to re-line the culvert and the adjacent manhole to prevent leakage from the canal, the specialist materials required have been ordered and are scheduled to arrive next week, with work commencing from Monday 5 February. We anticipate in the coming weeks a temporary ramp will be constructed to allow us to mobilise an excavator to facilitate the canal bed repairs. Additional repairs to the towpath are required which will be carried out once the canal has been re-filled and the dams are removed, the towpath will remain closed until these works are completed. Tree down Bridge 41, Grub Street Bridge Navigation is now open but restricted as there is lump of timber in the canal. Boats can still pass but please take care if passing. The contractors will clear the rest of the tree tomorrow. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12noon Tuesday 30 January 2024 until further notice) A tree has fallen from the offside, blocking navigation by Bridge 41, Grub Street Bridge on the Shropshire Union Canal. Our contractor has been informed. We’ll provide updates as soon as we receive them.
