From Farndon to Rail Bridge 28, downstream of Nether Lock ADVICE (Monday 24 July until Friday 28 July 2023) Between the 24th and 28th July, Ecological (Otter) surveys are being undertaken on foot and by small rib boat where required along the riverbank. These will be taking taking place at various locations, from Farndon to Rail Bridge 28, downstream of Nether Lock. These ongoing surveys are required for the A46 widening scheme. Navigation and towpath will remain open, but please proceed with care and follow any advice on site. Contractors have been instructed to move their craft out of the way for passing boats. Diglis Toilets, New Sanitary Station The toilets are now open again, apologies for the time it has taken. ADVICE (11am Thursday 20 July 2023 until further notice) The toilets are out of order at Diglis CSF. Our contractors have been contacted, so please bear with us. Nr to Brandon Bank Updated on 27/07/2023: This notice is now rescinded as the trees have been removed. ADVICE (Thursday 20 July 2023 until rescinded) We have been advised of two trees that have fallen into the river which our contractors will be cutting back as soon as their schedule allows. The W3W Locations are ///decades.routines/legroom and ///brownish.march.project. Upstream of Upper Barnwell Lock OBSTRUCTION ADVICE (Thursday 20 July 2023 until further notice) We have been made aware of a tree branch in the navigation mostly below the surface of the water. The branch has been reported as upstream of Upper Barnwell Lock, however, it is moving downstream. Elsan Point, Durn Services, We are pleased to advise the elsan facility is now back in use at Durn Customer Service Facilities. ADVICE (until further notice) Please be advised the elsan facility at Durn Customer Service Facilities is currently out of use due to blocked drains. Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their attendance Friday 21 July. An update will be provided Friday 21 July. Fallen tree across the River Tees opposite Yarm school – TN-013 RESTRICTION (until 5pm Wednesday 26 July 2023) A large tree has fallen blocking half of the navigation. Contractors have been informed and will be attending to site with specialist equipment accessing the tree by boat within 5 working days. Can skippers of all crafts please slow down and be cautious approaching the area. We will update the notice, should the tree be removed sooner. Bridge 133, Backford We are pleased to advise our contractors have been able to resume navigation by creating a single traffic passage at Bridge 133, Backford on the Shropshire Union Canal. They will remain onsite to remove the tree fully from navigation so we politely request that any passing customers listen to any guidance provided by the team onsite and to pass through the area with care. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (until further notice) Please be advised navigation is closed at Bridge 133, Backford on the Shropshire Union Canal due to a windblown tree. Our local team have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site tomorrow to remove the obstruction. An update will be provided Thursday 20 July. Near Bridge 18 Our contractors have attended site and cleared the tree. Boaters can now proceed as normal. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) A large tree has come down near Bridge 18 on the Trent & Mersey Canal, which is completely blocking the navigation. An urgent job has been raised with our contractors for them to remove the tree and we will update the website later today with further details. Boaters are asked not to travel along this section until the tree has been cleared. Atherstone Lock Flight Both navigation and towpath are now open again. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10am Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) Due to a police incident, the navigation and towpath is closed between Atherstone Lock Flight. As soon as we receive further information, we will post an update. Starts At: Bridge 11, Sarson’s Bridge The fallen tree between bridges 11 and 12 on the Trent and Mersey Canal has now been cleared. Cautionary towpath restrictions are removed. RESTRICTION (10am Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) A tree has fallen over the towpath between bridges 11 and 12 on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Although the tree is not blocking the navigation, towpath users (cyclists in particular) are advised to use caution when in the area. Our operations team has been made aware and will be attending the site later today. Starts At: Lock 8, Holme Lock The tree has been cleared and boaters can now proceed as normal. RESTRICTION (Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) There is a tree stuck in the main channel on the Trent between Holme lock and Stoke Lock. The tree is approximately 250m downstream of Radcliffe viaduct. Boaters can get past but are asked to proceed with care. Our local team aims to be on site on Friday with our work boat, and will attempt to clear it out the way. We will update the website accordingly. Tree down Bridge 170B (Railway) Tree has been removed and navigation is open RESTRICTION (12.30pm Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) Please be advised that due to a fallen tree the navigation is restricted at Bridge 170B on the Grand Union Canal. Navigation is possible for narrow boats but not for wide beams. Contractors are being arranged to remove the tree and any updates will be provided when available. Starts At: Lock 6, Top Lock The fallen tree which was partially blocking the Grand Union Canal between Lock 6 (Top Lock) and Braunston Tunnel (West Portal) has now been removed and restrictions have been lifted. RESTRICTION (12noon Wednesday 19 July 2023 until further notice) A fallen tree is partially blocking the Grand Union Canal between Lock 6 (Top Lock) and Braunstone Tunnel (West Portal). The obstruction is passable for narrow boats; however, wide-beam boats are advised to avoid this section until the tree has been removed. Our team has been asked to attend the site asap, and an update will be posted as soon as the tree has been removed. Bridge 23, Tyle Mill Swingbridge ADVICE (8am-12noon Thursday 20 July 2023) Please be advised that contractors are working on Tyle Mill Swingbridge on Thursday 20th July between the hours of 8am until midday.
