We are pleased to advise that the windblown tree has been removed from between Bridge 3, Well Bridge and Bridge 4, Newton Hall Br on the Peak Forest Canal and navigation has resumed.

Please be advised navigation remains closed due to a fallen windblown tree between Bridges 3 & 4 on the Peak Forest Canal blocking navigation and towpath.

Contractors are expected on site tomorrow. 

An update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, 1st August.

Please be advised navigation remains restricted to narrowboats only between Bridge 72, Idle Bridge and Bridge 72a, Chorley on the Leeds & Liverpool canal due to a windblown tree coming from the offside of the canal.

Our contractors have been delayed attending site, and expecting to attend tomorrow.

We are pleased to advise that the pump out at Dundas has been repaired and is now fully operational.

Blisworth Tunnel

BOOKING INFORMATION (7.30-10am Monday 31 July 2023)

Blisworth tunnel will be closed to traffic from 07:30, possibly until 10:00 for the passage of 2 widebeam boats  one travelling from Blisworth to Stoke Bruerne and one in the opposite direction.

Boats may enter the tunnel if directed to do so by a Trust representative at the tunnel portal or after 10:00 if no representative is present.

Please be advised that the pump out at Westview Marina, Ely is currently out of action and we are awaiting an Engineer to attend.

The Elsan at the customer service facility is currently out of order.

Contractors have been notified and shall be in attendance as soon as possible.

Please be aware of a tree which has fallen into the river from Batcock Island Nr to Hemingford Grey. If using W3W the location is ///liberated.hairpin.panels.
Arrangements to remove this tree will be looked into and in the meantime if navigating in this area, boaters are requested to proceed with caution.

South of bridge 23 – Near Winwick

Update on 31/07/2023:

The fallen tree, south of bridge 23 on the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal, has now been cleared. Full passage is now possible.

A fallen tree is partially blocking the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal south of bridge 23, near Winwick. 

The obstruction is passable with caution for narrow boats.

Our team has been asked to attend the site as soon as possible and an update will be posted as soon as more information is received.

RESTRICTION (2.30pm Thursday 27 July 2023 until further notice)

A fallen tree is partially blocking the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal south of bridge 23, near Winwick. 

The obstruction is passable with caution for narrow boats; however, wide-beam boats are advised to avoid this section until the tree has been removed.

Our team has been asked to attend the site as soon as possible and an update will be posted as soon as more information is received.

We have received a report that a large tree has fallen blocking navigation between Mexborough Top Lock and Mexborough Station bridge.

Contractors have been notified and shall be in attendance as soon as possible.

We will update this notice once the tree has been removed.

Tree was removed by Norbury Wharf and local farmer last night.
