It is still partially blocking the navigation, which will prevent the passage of wide-beam boats; however, other boat users may proceed with care. RESTRICTION (Tuesday 1 August 2023 until further notice) A tree has come down between Junction lock and Wanlip bridge 18 on the River Soar. It is partially blocking the navigation, which will prevent the passage of wide-beam boats. Other users are asked to proceed with care. Bedford to St. Ives ADVICE (Wednesday 2 August 2023 for approximately 6 weeks) Contractors working on our behalf will be carrying out emergency tree works at various locations along the watercourse, due to fallen trees or limbs. Near Aylestone The navigation is now open at this location after extensive work to make the area safe. We ask boaters to proceed with caution and allow only one boat to pass at a time for the time being. An update to this notice will follow on Monday the 7th August. The navigation will remain closed today due to the sunken boat. We continue work to make the area safe; securing the boat and consulting with the Environment Agency about the residual pollution caused by the incident. We will post an update tomorrow to advise on progress and forecast when we expect to have the navigation open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Wednesday 2 August 2023 until further notice) The navigation is closed between Aylestone Mill Lock and Parsons Bridge (107) on the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal near Aylestone. This is due to a narrow boat fire and resulting fuel spillage. The incident has been attended to by the police and fire brigade who have the situation under control. The narrowboat has sunk and is now blocking the navigation which will remain be closed until further notice. We will update our website with any new information on the incident as we receive it. Hungerford Pump Out, Bridge 83, Station Road We are pleased to advise that the pump out at Hungerford has been repaired and is now fully operational. ADVICE (10am Wednesday 2 August 2023 until further notice) Please be advised that the pump out at Bridge 83, Hungerford has failed and is currently inoperable. Contractors have been informed and we will update this notice when the repair has been completed. Mooring suspension 18m north of Chalk Bridge EVENT (12noon Tuesday 1 August until 12noon Thursday 31 August 2023) A mooring suspension is in place 18 metres north of Chalk Bridge on the Lee Navigation. Barge Fiodra will be moored to provide support and services to the Trust-led Art and community project ‘Hinterlands Enfield’ during August 2023 Cromwell Lock CSF (Near Cromwell Village) Our local team has repaired the shower, and customers can now access the facilities as normal. ADVICE (Tuesday 1 August 2023 until further notice) Due to vandalism, we have unfortunately had to temporarily deadlock the showers at Cromwell Lock. An urgent job has been raised with our contractors and we will update the website on 3rd August with further information. Downstream of Cotterstock Lock ADVICE (Tuesday 1 August 2023 until further notice) Please be aware that there is a fallen tree in the navigation downstream of Cotterstock Lock on river left. The W3W for this location is ///widely.tabs.retrieves The tree is still attached but river users are able to pass without restriction. However, please navigate with caution whilst in this area. Between Lime Kilns Bridge 15 and Nutt’s Bridge 16 (Nearest Village, Sketchley Old Village) Our contractors have cleared the tree and boaters can now proceed as normal. A tree has fallen down on the Ashby Canal, between Lime Kilns bridge 15 and Nutts bridge 16. It is not blocking the navigation, but please proceed with care. It is partially obstructing the towpath. We have raised a job with our contractors and should be cleared tomorrow. we will update the website on 3rd August. Starts At: Braunston Tunnel East Portal BOOKING INFORMATION (7.30am-9am Wednesday 2 August 2023) Braunston tunnel will be closed to traffic from 07:30, possibly until 09:30 on Wednesday 2nd August for the passage of a widebeam boat, travelling from Welton to Braunston. Boats may enter the tunnel if directed to do so by a Trust representative at the tunnel portal or after 08:30 if no representative is present. CSF, Pump Out and Elsan Dundas We are pleased to advise that the pump out at Dundas has been repaired and is now fully operational. ADVICE (3pm Monday 31 July 2023 until further notice) Please be advised that the pump out at Dundas has failed and is currently inoperable. Contractors have been informed and we will update this notice when the repair has been completed. Lock 4 Falling Sands Windblown Tree has been removed. Navigation now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Saturday 29 July 2023 until further notice) Large Windblown tree blocking navigation fallen from offside.
